Job description

Position Summary

The CNC Setup Operator will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to produce high-quality machined components. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. This position is vital to ensuring on-time production while maintaining our standards for accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and other machinery according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines.
  • Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, following all company and OSHA safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Shop Foreman and production team to meet daily production goals.
  • Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or machining program preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment and programming experience
  • Experience with machining fasteners or precision components is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • CNC certification or machining program completion.
  • OSHA 10/30 or other safety training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with noise and machinery.
