New Process Metal Solutions is seeking an experienced Slitter Setup Operator to join our 3rd Shift team. If you have experience setting up and operating slitting equipment, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality, we want to hear from you.

Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM, plus overtime as needed
Schedules may vary based on customer demands and production requirements.

Position Summary

The Slitter Setup Operator is responsible for setting up slitting lines to customer specifications, ensuring quality standards are met, minimizing scrap, and supporting efficient production operations. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Set up slitting equipment according to production schedules and customer specifications.
  • Select and install tooling, spacers, and knives for proper material widths and tolerances.
  • Verify setup requirements using work orders, production schedules, and quality documentation.
  • Load coils and prepare equipment for production runs.
  • Perform material inspections and verify product quality throughout production.
  • Troubleshoot setup and production issues to minimize downtime and material waste.
  • Accurately complete production reports, setup documentation, and quality records.
  • Communicate setup requirements, production changes, and quality concerns with operators, supervisors, and team members.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist with preventive maintenance activities.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience setting up and operating slitting equipment required.
  • Strong understanding of slitting tooling, coil processing, and production workflows.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
