Settlement Analyst

ACCIONA Energía is looking for a Settlement Analyst to support our Power Marketing team. This position plays a critical role in managing commercial operations related to power purchase agreements (PPAs), market settlements, and energy market compliance across North American energy markets. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate settlements, reporting, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer power purchase agreements (PPAs), ensuring compliance with contractual terms and performance obligations.
  • Validate and reconcile all market settlement transactions with system operators and support monitoring and calculation of resettlements.
  • Ensure accurate payment processing to and from RTOs/counterparties and escalate and document settlement disputes as needed.
  • Prepare and submit monthly settlement reports and supporting data to the accounting team.
  • Support analysis of regulations and market rules affecting energy, renewable, and capacity markets and operations.
  • Oversee and monitor credit and collateral requirements associated with PPAs and ISDA agreements, coordinating with Finance and Credit teams to ensure compliance and accurate tracking.
  • Support QSE and ISO operational coordination, market registrations, operational setup, and coordination with external providers.
  • Prepare internal and external reports related to transaction status, renewable attributes inventory, and tax equity partner reporting.
  • Assist with internal and external audit support, compliance documentation, annual disclosure forms, renewable attributes compliance, certifications, and consolidation of required documentation.
  • Monitor, interpret, and analyze new market developments in the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) and support transitions to updated market structures and processes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Knowledge of electricity markets, market regulations, and compliance practices is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Markets (IESO/AESO), ERCOT, and PJM is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Base Pay: $65,000 - $80,000
  • 5 % Annual Performance Bonus (based on individual performance and company metrics)
