Position Announcement
Under the direction of the Director of Retail Operations, this position is responsible for assisting with the successful day-to-day operations of assigned retail operations on Utah Tech University's campus. Primary responsibilities include customer care, oversight of health and safety compliance, staff scheduling, product orders, and receiving. This position works closely with the director to develop a vision and implement strategies to meet the retail needs of campus.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and supervision of part-time employees within assigned areas.
  • Develops and maintains employee schedules in assigned areas. Ensures staff coverage during each location's hours of operations, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Additionally, staff scheduling for product receiving, which may be during closed hours.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies including cash handling and financial reporting.
  • Manages vendor relations and product ordering.
  • Assists with receiving products including unloading deliveries, restocking shelves, and inventory tracking.
  • Provides a positive customer experience and resolves customer concerns in a quick and positive manner.
  • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting point-of-sale and other technology solutions used in operations.
  • Helps develop strategies to provide excellent service, improve sales, and promote University initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED required. Associates degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • At least two (2) years' related retail management experience including supervisor and customer service. Grocery and/or C-store experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification and operation are required; however, no prior experience is necessary. Training will be provided.
  • Must be able to work evenings and some weekends when required.
  • Food Handlers permit required.
  • Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds on a consistent basis (lift test will be required prior to job start date).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and exercise excellent human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with university students, employees, and the public.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and able to multitask on various projects.

Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time overtime-exempt staff position. Annual salary of $46,000 with a desired start date of October/November 2026. Excellent benefits package included that begins on start date; includes medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, employee assistance and wellness programs, retirement plan contributions, and undergraduate tuition waivers for employees and eligible dependents, as well as paid holidays in addition to sick and vacation leave accruals.
