Job description

JOB TITLE:  SERVICE MANAGER


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the Service Department, including scheduling and distribution of work for technicians and yard team, utilizing company systems and other tools to manage / generate work orders. Work closely with personnel and Branch Manager to provide quality service in a timely manner for both customer and company. 

 

EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma required, Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial/industrial/oilfield equipment rental and service with preferably at least 2 years of management experience
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to travel as necessary
  • Must have solid computer skills (RentalMan experience is a plus)
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team to prioritize and accomplish deadlines
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills, organized, and be detail oriented
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and work on many different projects 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Manages the service employees and/or service operations in the coordinating of all rental equipment / tools’ (and rental equipment accessories) inventory and services
  • Maintain professional and ethical business relationships with all customers and employees following established company policies and procedures
  • Act as a liaison between Branch and corporate departments, i.e., Safety and Human Resources, to ensure compliance needs are met such as EEO, FLSA, OSHA, etc. within department
  • Manages the retention and hiring of Branch service department staff, including: Interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraising, and disciplining Branch employees 
  •  Develop and monitor performance standards and measurements for employees and job flows to improve effectiveness and efficiency 
  • Oversee professional, safety, and technical development needs of department employees
  • Maintain an adequate and appropriate staff of qualified, trained, and customer-facing service technicians
  • Responsible for all warranty service insuring fair treatment of the customer and the company
  • Responsible for the condition of the shop including keeping the shop equipment (including vehicles) in good repair and maintaining proper housekeeping
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by Management
