Technical Lead – Automotive Software Platforms

Technical Lead – Automotive Software Platforms

[Staffing and/or Recruiting Firms Do Not Apply]

Echelle Resources is seeking an experienced Technical Lead – Automotive Software Platforms to support the design, integration, and delivery of software for connected vehicle and automotive technology environments.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position for an experienced software professional who can provide architectural direction, contribute directly to development, mentor technical teams, and help drive complex software initiatives from design through release.

A key focus of this role is supporting software across Kotlin/Android and Swift/iOS environments, including the transition and re architecture of existing Kotlin functionality into Swift and iOS components.

What You’ll Do

As a Technical Lead, you will provide both technical leadership and hands‑on engineering support across automotive applications, platforms, APIs, services, and integration layers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead technical architecture and software delivery across automotive platforms, applications, APIs, services, and integration layers.
  • Plan and support the transition of existing Kotlin functionality into Swift/iOS components while maintaining functionality, quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute directly to Kotlin/Android, Swift/iOS, API, service, integration, and development tooling when needed.
  • Review software architecture, designs, and code and provide technical direction to development teams.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines, build automation, automated testing, release workflows, and engineering practices.
  • Mentor client technical staff on development practices, software architecture, code quality, CI/CD, and scalable software delivery.
  • Support Agile delivery through SCRUM, Kanban, backlog management, estimation, prioritization, risk management, and milestone planning.
  • Independently plan, estimate, communicate, execute, release, and support complex technical initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have professional development experience with both Kotlin and Swift.

Additional required qualifications include:

  • Strong hands‑on software development experience in platform, mobile, integration, embedded, automotive, or enterprise software environments.
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions across Android and iOS technology environments.
  • Ability to evaluate existing Kotlin functionality and guide its transition or re architecture into Swift/iOS.
  • Experience with software architecture, APIs, integration, testing, and release planning.
  • Experience developing and maintaining production APIs.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build automation, testing, and software release workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, SCRUM, Kanban, backlog management, estimation, and full software development lifecycle practices.
  • Strong technical communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while mentoring and providing technical direction to other developers.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Infotainment or connected vehicle platforms
  • Google Automotive Services
  • Software Defined Vehicle environments
  • Vehicle integration
  • Java
  • REST APIs
  • Microservices and enterprise integrations
  • Previous Kotlin/Android to Swift/iOS migration or re architecture projects
  • Consulting or client‑facing technical delivery
  • Related technical degree or equivalent practical experience

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is more than a senior developer. We are looking for someone who can understand a complex software environment, establish technical direction, identify risks, work directly with engineering teams, and step into the code when necessary.

You should be comfortable working with both technical and client stakeholders and capable of balancing architecture, development, mentoring, and delivery responsibilities.

Why Echelle Resources

This opportunity provides:

  • High‑visibility work supporting connected and automotive technology.
  • Meaningful technical ownership across a multi‑platform software environment.
  • The opportunity to influence software architecture, engineering standards, and delivery practices.
  • Hands‑on involvement with modern Android, Kotlin, Swift/iOS, API, and automotive software technologies.

Echelle Resources is an equal opportunity organization. We value professionals who demonstrate technical excellence, ownership, clear communication, collaboration, and practical leadership.
