Overview:
Sentara Gastroenterology Specialists, a division of Sentara Health, is seeking a BC/BE Gastroenterologist with primary focus in Hepatology to join the team at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia. Transplant Hepatology certification is not required, but highly desired.
This dedicated Hepatologist role aims create a regional model for comprehensive liver care based out of the tertiary Level 1 teaching hospital at Sentara Norfolk General. Additional opportunities within this role including clinical research, inpatient care, and teaching with the medical school at Old Dominion University.
Opportunity Highlights:
  • Full time, Employed position with Sentara Gastroenterology Specialists
  • Location: SNGH/Fort Norfolk
  • Current team includes specialists in all GI care - Interventional Endoscopy (including endohepatology), IBD, Motility, Functional Disorders, General GI
  • Core responsibility: creation of outpatient Hepatology clinic and clinical research program in Hepatology
  • Inpatient GI service staffed by General GI but opportunities for rounding on liver patients
  • Call shared equally across the GI team (not to exceed 1:5 on call)
  • Academic appointment at Old Dominion University
  • Collaborative opportunities in clinical and basic sciences for nutrition, endocrine, metabolic, and cardiovascular disease
