Systems Integration & Test Engineer, Senior
Overview

This senior role integrates hardware and software from SimTech product teams in support of integration and test (I&T) events, while also serving as a product engineer on system development efforts. It spans integration and test, customer-facing support, and close collaboration with hardware and software product teams, including relaying field requirements back to product management. Solid networking fundamentals and comfort in fast-paced, cross-functional environments are a must.
Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and execute the integration of hardware and software from product teams into the overall system architecture.
Assemble and integrate electrical and mechanical items at the sub-assembly, assembly, and platform level in accordance with drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements.
Configure systems and components through software settings and firmware loading to bring integrated assemblies to operational readiness.
Integrate complex systems onto airborne, ground, and maritime platforms, coordinating mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces to meet form, fit, and function requirements.
Configure and verify network connectivity between system components, including IP addressing, switches, routers, and common protocols.
Support troubleshooting efforts during integration, including mechanical, electrical, and software debug.
Support integration events and flight test events, including pre-test setup, on-site system checkout, data collection, and post-test troubleshooting.
Develop and execute acceptance test procedures (ATPs) to verify that delivered systems meet contractual and performance requirements.
Serve as the technical liaison across hardware and software product teams to resolve integration issues and clarify interface requirements.
Act as a customer-facing technical point of contact during integration and test events, communicating status and representing engineering in customer discussions.
Collaborate with product development teams on design reviews and product test planning, relaying field and customer requirements back to product management.
Support prototype integration and rapid fielding efforts, integrating prototype hardware and software onto operational platforms under compressed timelines.
Support training and New Equipment Training (NET), preparing and delivering instruction so operators and maintainers can field and sustain delivered systems.
Develop user training, and maintenance documentation and manuals to support fielding, operation, and sustainment of delivered systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Education Requirements and Desired Skillsets
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
10+ years of experience in test and integration, product engineering, or systems engineering.
Demonstrated experience in integrating hardware and software systems, ideally across cross-functional teams.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, cabling, switching, and routing) and the ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
Experience with networking, computers, and Linux and Windows operating systems.
Proficiency analyzing large test data sets using Python or equivalent tooling and producing concise, decision-ready summaries.
Strong customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to lead technical status conversations with customers and program stakeholders.
A self-starter, team player with a desire to work with a team of engineers, integrators, analysts, and others in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to travel as required, estimated at 20% to 40% and dependent on project needs, to internal sites, integration labs, and test locations.
Some evening and weekend work is required during integration and test events.
Experience with military and commercial hardware standards (MIL-STD, MIL-SPEC) is preferred.
Prior experience supporting military flight test and integration events or other DoD programs is preferred.
Familiarity with interface control documents (ICDs) and requirements traceability is preferred.
U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret security clearance and eligibility to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
Physical Description
Employees in these positions will function in a combination of office, laboratory, and shop integration environments using standard office equipment, computers, electronic and mechanical assembly and testing equipment. They will collaborate with various personnel, attend meetings, contribute to team efforts, deliver timely results, produce reports, and communicate information effectively.
These positions also support integration events and flight test events, which may require working outdoors for full days in varying weather conditions and at off-site test locations. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective footwear may be required. Employees must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and may be expected to work varying shifts and hours, and to travel, to support integration and test activities.
