Job description

Overview
Senior Software Integration Developer
LOCATION: Huntsville, AL
JOB STATUS: Full-time
CLEARANCE: US Citizenship required; Secret preferred (or ability to obtain)
TRAVEL: Less than 10%
Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Integration Developer to own the integrations that connect our core business system applications. This role designs, builds, secures, and maintains the API and middleware integrations across our enterprise platforms, owns the data mapping and data-flow documentation, and coordinates every integration effort with the owners of each business system. Because our data spans commercial, FedRAMP, and CMMC/CUI classifications, the role also designs and implements the middleware and controls that let systems of differing classification exchange data without violating an authorization boundary. The ideal candidate is equal parts hands-on integration developer and integration project manager, comfortable both writing the code and orchestrating the stakeholders. This position is based in Columbia, MD with hybrid flexibility.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • US Citizenship (business data includes CUI); active Secret clearance or ability to obtain preferred
  • 6+ years developing application and data integrations, including hands-on API development
  • Deep expertise in:
    • RESTful and SOAP API design and development, and API lifecycle management
    • Integration and middleware platforms (e.g., Azure Integration Services such as Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, and Data Factory; or MuleSoft, Boomi, or a comparable iPaaS)
    • Data mapping, transformation, and ETL/ELT, with source-to-target documentation
    • Integration security and authentication (OAuth 2.0, SAML, OpenID Connect, API keys, mutual TLS, secrets management)
  • Strong programming skills (e.g., C#/.NET, Python, or Java) and SQL
  • Demonstrated experience integrating enterprise business systems such as ERP, HCM, contract lifecycle management, workflow, or collaboration platforms
  • Experience building and maintaining data flow diagrams and integration architecture documentation
  • Experience with Azure data services and data warehousing (Azure Data Warehouse / Synapse, Azure SQL)
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage integration projects across multiple stakeholders and vendors
  • Working understanding of data classification and handling across commercial, FedRAMP, and CMMC/CUI (NIST SP 800-171) environments

KEY COMPETENCIES
  • API and integration design and development
  • Data mapping, transformation, and data-flow documentation
  • Integration security and authentication
  • Technical project management and stakeholder coordination
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Direct experience integrating Deltek Costpoint, UKG Pro, Icertis ICI, Integrify by Nutrient, SharePoint, and/or CrowCanyon
  • Experience implementing middleware to bridge systems of differing classification (commercial, FedRAMP, GCC High, CUI/CMMC)
  • Microsoft Azure certification (e.g., Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204), Azure Data Engineer, or Azure Solutions Architect) or an iPaaS certification (MuleSoft, Boomi)
  • PMP, CAPM, or Agile/Scrum certification, or a demonstrated record of technical project management
  • Experience with CI/CD, Git, and infrastructure-as-code for integration pipelines
  • Experience with API gateways and management (Azure API Management, Apigee)
  • Experience in a government contracting or CMMC/DFARS-regulated environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 GCC High and Azure Government

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own the end-to-end integration lifecycle for Astrion's business system applications, from requirements and design through build, test, deployment, and ongoing maintenance
  • Design and develop API-based integrations (REST and SOAP) and event-driven and batch data flows between platforms such as Deltek Costpoint, UKG Pro (UltiPro), Icertis ICI, Azure Data Warehouse, Integrify by Nutrient, SharePoint, and CrowCanyon
  • Create and maintain the data mapping, transformation logic, and field-level source-to-target documentation for each integration
  • Create and maintain data flow diagrams and integration architecture documentation, keeping them current as the platforms change
  • Design and implement the authentication and security of each integration: OAuth 2.0, SAML, OpenID Connect, API keys, mutual TLS, token and secrets management, least-privilege service accounts, and encryption in transit and at rest
  • Design and implement middleware where systems cannot integrate directly, including flows that move data between commercial, FedRAMP, and CMMC/CUI environments, with the controls needed to keep each classification within its authorized boundary
  • Build and maintain data pipelines into the Azure Data Warehouse and support downstream reporting and analytics consumers
  • Serve as the integration project manager: coordinate scope, schedule, and dependencies across the owners and vendors of each business system, run working sessions, track risks and decisions, and drive integrations to delivery
  • Partner with business system owners, IT, security, and compliance to gather requirements and confirm that integrations meet business and security needs
  • Monitor integrations in production, troubleshoot failures, and maintain logging, alerting, and error handling
  • Manage integration change control, versioning, environments, and release management
  • Establish and enforce integration standards, reusable patterns, naming conventions, and reference architecture
  • Support audits and compliance validation for data handling across classification levels
