The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Vehicle Motion Controls Integration Engineer to join our Vehicle Control Design team. This role is focused on the integration, validation, and deployment of autonomous/ADAS software stacks and the Vehicle Motion Control platform across simulation environments, instrumented development vehicles, and multiple electrical architectures.

The successful candidate will lead the technical execution required to connect AV and VMC control stacks with vehicle interfaces, plant models, real-time hardware, and validation environments. This position requires deep hands-on experience in model-based development, vehicle network integration, real-time systems, signal verification, controller gateway development, ECU emulation, and vehicle-level testing.

You will play a key role in building and validating scalable integration solutions that support virtual development, development vehicle integration and readiness, winter test preparation, current and future architecture integration, and demonstration of advanced vehicle motion control capabilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead AV-VMC integration across simulation, real-time, and in-vehicle environments using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, CarSim, dSPACE, and related in-house toolchains

  • Develop, integrate, and validate wrapper models that encapsulate I/O, gateways, plant interfaces, and required control interfaces for current and future vehicle programs

  • Establish and verify communications between vehicles and real-time platforms including dSPACE - Scalexio and MABXIII

  • Configure and validate instrumentation and interfaces for development vehicles, including navigation, sensing, and vehicle network communication systems

  • Develop and deploy controller gateways for actuators, ADAS controllers, and ACP systems, including signal routing, scaling, timing alignment, and interface validation

  • Perform signal-level verification and end-to-end validation of controller interfaces, including range, rate, latency, integrity, and fault handling

  • Implement and validate selective ECU replacement and real-time ECU emulation solutions for development and test environments

  • Integrate AV control interfaces and AV-VMC middleware into vehicle platforms across current and future architectures for closed-loop operation

  • Support development and modification of dSPACE/ControlDesk layouts, dashboards, diagnostic tools, and MATLAB/CAN-based data analysis utilities

  • Execute and support vehicle, HiL, and simulation-based validation activities, including regression testing, root-cause analysis, and issue resolution with internal teams and external suppliers

  • Prepare vehicles and systems for winter testing through configuration validation, logging, diagnostics, and fallback strategy development

  • Support Milford Proving Ground integration activities, structured test events, and technical vehicle demonstrations

  • Document network architecture, configurations, integration results, verification findings, and readiness status for program milestones

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Vehicle Integration and Validation

  • Strong hands-on experience with vehicle integration, hardware-software bring-up, and full-vehicle validation

  • Experience executing verification and validation activities in vehicle, HiL, and simulation environments

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-domain issues involving controllers, communications, instrumentation, and plant models

  • Experience supporting proving ground and winter test activities

Embedded Systems and Vehicle Networks

  • Strong experience with embedded system software and hardware integration in automotive applications

  • Deep knowledge of automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, serial communication, and OBD-II

  • Experience reading, interpreting, and modifying ARXML files and integrating CAN specifications into development environments

  • Hands-on capability in CAN gateway development and interface implementation using tools such as PCAN, Vector, or equivalent

Model-Based Development and Real-Time Systems

  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development workflows

  • Experience creating and validating wrapper models, interface models, and plant model integrations

  • Hands-on experience with dSPACE environments including Scalexio, ControlDesk, and related real-time toolchains

  • Ability to validate model execution on real-time targets and support closed-loop integration activities

Controls, Simulation, and Software Development

  • Experience integrating control algorithms into simulation and vehicle environments

  • Working knowledge of vehicle dynamics simulation tools such as CarSim or equivalent

  • Proficiency in Python, embedded C, and C++ for integration, analysis, tooling, and software implementation

  • Ability to develop analysis tools, diagnostics, dashboards, and automation utilities to support testing and issue resolution

Autonomous and Chassis Control Systems

  • Knowledge of autonomous driving, ADAS, chassis control, and vehicle motion control architectures

  • Experience integrating ECUs, sensors, actuators, and perception-related interfaces into vehicle control systems

  • Familiarity with AV control stack integration and middleware integration across current and future architectures

Safety and Engineering Rigor

  • Knowledge of automotive functional safety and cybersecurity processes including ISO 26262, ASIL concepts, and Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) under ISO 21434

  • Experience applying disciplined engineering methods for reliability, validation, risk identification, and release readiness

  • Strong technical documentation, reporting, and communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in vehicle controls, embedded systems integration, ADAS/AV integration, or related automotive development roles

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex integration and validation challenges

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and with external partners

  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to travel as needed for vehicle testing, winter test activities, and proving ground support

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills):

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in vehicle controls, embedded systems integration, ADAS/AV integration, or related automotive development roles

  • Experience with OXTS, Kistler, Intrepid neoVI, INCA, Vehicle Spy, CANalyzer, or similar instrumentation and calibration tools

  • Experience with ACP software, actuator controller flashing, and advanced controller interface setup

  • Experience developing technical test plans, readiness reviews, and demo support plans

  • Familiarity with current and future vehicle electrical architectures and integration of AV-VMC capabilities into scalable software platforms

  • Experience supporting prototype or pre-production vehicle demonstrations

  • Experience mentoring other engineers and driving technical execution in a fast-paced development environment
