Job description

The position reports to the Dean of Career, Technical and Distance Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

ยท Teaching assignments may be one or more of our teaching locations. Participate in training offered by the equipment vendor to prepare to teach courses in the Engineering Systems Technology degree.

ยท Teach a combination of credit and continuing education classes. The classes will include any courses within the Engineering Systems Technology discipline that include the following topics related to advanced manufacturing: electrical and mechanical systems, motor controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, Programmable Logic Controllers and additive manufacturing (3D printing).

ยท Work with stakeholders to develop work-based learning for students in various manufacturing plants.

ยท Teach a range of ages from Dual Enrollment high school students to nontraditional, returning adults.

ยท Recruit students from area high schools and from the community to make DSCCโ€™s program viable and competitive.

ยท Flexibility to teach evenings/weekends and/or off-campus courses as needed (requires the use of personal vehicle).

ยท Practice a learning-centered educational philosophy and redesign courses to include work-based learning strategies including service learning opportunities, learning communities, critical thinking skills, co-operative learning, and reading across the curriculum.

ยท Develop web-enhanced courses for delivery in technology-enhanced classrooms/labs (such as interactive (ITV) rooms), online or in a hybrid mode.

ยท Revise and develop curriculum and select electronic course materials in cooperation with colleagues.

ยท Become certified in and fully use the course management system for all classes.

ยท Work with colleagues to assess the effectiveness of courses, analyze the results, develop and implement improvement plans, and document this information each semester in the form prescribed by DSCC.

ยท Participate in professional development which includes an organized review of effective teaching practices and maintains membership in an appropriate regional, state and/or national organization related to your teaching at DSCC.

ยท Assist with the identification and mentoring of adjunct instructors.

ยท Advise students, maintain regular office hours, and participate in college life and committee work of the College.

ยท Willingness to acquire software certifications as needed.

ยท Assist in grant writing.

ยท Actively communicate with colleagues and students using email, voice mail, text and other electronic means. Normally, responses are expected in no more than 48 hours.

ยท Be trained and certified as a Master Advisor.

ยท Willingness to teach in prisons.

ยท Organize and participate in Advisory Committee Meetings

ยท Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Sedentary: Desk work; occasional travel may be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

  • MSSC Certified Production Technician Instructor
  • Must communicate well in oral and written English.

ยท Associate degree in Manufacturing Systems, Engineering or related field or the verification of prior learning equivalent to an associate degree in Advanced Manufacturing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

ยท OSHA trained and certified.

ยท Experience in manufacturing, classroom and online training and in skills assessment.

ยท PMMI certifications (electrical, mechanical, fluid power, PLC)

Salary range:$56,534-$74,619
