What is a senior technical support?

Senior Technical Support specialists are experienced professionals who provide advanced assistance and troubleshooting for technical issues related to products, services, or systems. They handle complex problems that frontline support staff cannot resolve and often serve as a bridge between customers and engineering teams. Their responsibilities may include mentoring junior staff, creating documentation, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective problem resolution.

How does a senior technical support professional typically interact with other departments to resolve complex customer issues?

Senior Technical Support professionals often collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and quality assurance teams to address complex technical challenges. When an issue exceeds frontline troubleshooting, they escalate cases, provide detailed diagnostics, and may participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure timely resolution. This collaboration not only facilitates faster solutions for customers but also helps identify recurring problems and drive product improvements. Effective communication and teamwork are essential skills in this role, as it often acts as a bridge between the customer and internal technical teams.

  • Provide technical guidance on speeds, feeds, coatings, tool geometry, and machining best practices
  • Prepare quotations and process customer orders accurately
  • Work closely with Outside Sales and supplier partners to deliver complete solutions
  • Continuing to expand your knowledge through manufacturer training and product education

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • 5+ years of CNC machining, tool room, manufacturing engineering, or cutting tool experience
  • Strong knowledge of milling, turning, drilling, and threading applications
  • Experience selecting cutting tools for a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, and exotic alloys
  • The ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling challenges
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine desire to help customers succeed
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems

Experience with Sandvik, Kennametal, Seco, Iscar, Guhring, OSG, Mitsubishi Materials, or similar cutting tool manufacturers is a plus.

Why Experienced Machinists Make This Transition

This position allows you to stay connected to machining while enjoying:

  • Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM
  • Stable, year-round employment
  • Climate-controlled office environment
  • No mandatory overtime
  • Opportunity to solve a wide variety of machining challenges
  • Ongoing technical training from industry-leading manufacturers
  • Collaborative team environment
  • The chance to help manufacturers become more productive every day

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay: $34-$40 per hour, depending on experience
  • Annual incentive opportunities
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance beginning on your first day
  • 401(k) with Company match
  • Paid vacation and personal time
