Job description

Senior Software Engineer

Application Modernization & Agentic Solutions

MegazoneCloud US

Location, Travel & Compensation

  • Nationwide (US). Hybrid or onsite preferred near Rochester NY, Irvine CA, or Frisco TX.

  • Client-site and program travel as required by the engagement.

  • Base salary range: negotiable based on experience and location.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation are not provided.

About the Role

MegazoneCloud is looking for Senior Software Engineers to modernize legacy applications, manual processes, and batch workloads into event-driven, agentic architectures on AWS. You will work inside large, multi-vendor client programs — often in regulated industries such as life sciences, healthcare, and financial services — where the systems you replace are business-critical and the bar for reliability, traceability, and security is high.

This is a full stack, builder-first role. You will decompose existing systems, design the target-state architecture, write the services and the interfaces that sit on top of them, and stand behind those decisions in front of client stakeholders. Some of what you build will be conventional distributed systems work. A growing share will be agentic: LLM-backed workflows that generate code, validate outputs, compare results across languages and systems, and put a usable interface in front of all of it.

Where You'll Focus

We are hiring across several focus areas on this practice. We do not expect one person to cover all of them — tell us where your depth is, and we will place you accordingly.

  • Modernization & platform engineering. Assessing current-state architecture and re-platforming it into serverless, event-driven services on AWS.

  • Agentic & GenAI application development. Building LLM-backed agents, code-generation and code-assistance workflows, validation and comparison agents, and the evaluation harnesses that keep them honest.

  • Data engineering & analytics enablement. Pipelines, transformation layers, and reporting datasets that feed downstream analysis and study-level or program-level reporting.

  • Experience engineering. Conversational and chat interfaces, dashboards, data and document viewers, diff viewers, and feedback capture — the surfaces where users actually meet the platform.

What You'll Do
Modernize and re-architect

  • Decompose legacy applications and manual or batch processes into event-driven, serverless designs using Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, ECS Fargate, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.

  • Analyze current-state architecture and integration patterns, then produce target-state blueprints grounded in the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

  • Design integration patterns that work with the systems and processes already in place — not only with the ones we would have chosen.

Build agentic and AI-enabled capabilities

  • Operationalize GenAI workloads on Amazon Bedrock and comparable services — retrieval, prompt and context patterns, vector stores, tool use, and guardrails.

  • Build agents that do real work: generating code and shell artifacts, validating outputs, comparing results across languages or systems, and flagging discrepancies for human review.

  • Instrument and evaluate what you ship. Agentic systems need evaluation harnesses, feedback loops, and monitoring, not just a demo.

Ship full stack

  • Design and review REST or GraphQL API contracts — assessing consistency and completeness, and catching integration problems before development starts.

  • Build the front end: chat and conversational UIs, dashboards, data viewers, code diff viewers, and developer feedback workflows.

  • Write production-grade Python and TypeScript/Node.js, and read enough of everything else to review it credibly.

Automate and operate

  • Drive infrastructure-as-code with Terraform (or CloudFormation/CDK) and build CI/CD in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.

  • Own testing, observability, cost efficiency, and security posture for what you deliver.

Engage the client

  • Critically review FRDs, BRDs, and functional specifications — identifying gaps, ambiguities, and technically infeasible requirements, and translating business requirements into precise platform deliverables.

  • Run architecture reviews, demos, and knowledge-transfer workshops, and produce design docs, ADRs, decision logs, runbooks, and hand-over guides that outlive the engagement.

  • Work effectively alongside client teams, partner vendors, and offshore delivery teams within established architecture governance processes such as an ARB.

What You Bring

  • Experience. 5-8+ years of professional software or platform engineering experience.

  • Cloud-native delivery. Proven delivery of cloud-native solutions on at least one hyperscaler using containers, serverless, or microservices — with AWS depth, or the demonstrated ability to get there quickly.

  • AWS serverless and event-driven stack. Hands-on experience with the core services — Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, API Gateway, ECS Fargate, DynamoDB, S3 — and the judgment to recommend the right service for a given requirement.

  • Languages. Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js, and the ability to read and give design-level feedback on code you did not write.

  • Infrastructure as code. Terraform, or CloudFormation/CDK/Bicep/Pulumi with a willingness to standardize on Terraform.

  • Distributed systems fundamentals. A solid grasp of design patterns, integration patterns, and the industry standards behind resilient, scalable platforms.

  • AI/ML and GenAI familiarity. Working familiarity with LLM application patterns and AI/ML workflows, or a credible track record of ramping fast on new technology.

  • Delivery discipline. Comfort operating in Agile/Scrum or Kanban teams using JIRA, Git, and modern collaboration tooling, including multi-team programs.

  • Communication. Strong written and verbal skills — you can explain a complex cloud pattern to a skeptical engineer and to a non-technical executive in the same afternoon.

  • Education. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Mindset. Entrepreneurial drive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. You are comfortable with ambiguity and you finish things.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in regulated environments — life sciences, clinical, healthcare, or financial services — including validated or GxP‑adjacent systems.

  • Familiarity with scientific or statistical computing environments and the workflows around them: SAS, R, statistical programming pipelines, and analysis‑ready data and reporting outputs.

  • Experience contributing to complex, multi‑vendor cloud programs.

  • AWS certifications (Developer – Associate, Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional, or equivalent); Certified ScrumMaster.

  • MLOps tooling experience — experiment tracking, model registries, evaluation, and monitoring.

  • Prior consulting or professional services experience.

Why You'll Love It Here

  • Our Product is Our People: We live by this. We invest in people who invest in themselves. Your growth is our growth.

  • True Servant Leadership: Our CTO leads with a \"force multiplier\" philosophy. Management is here to empower you and clear roadblocks, not to micromanage. We won't ask you to do anything we're not willing to do ourselves.

  • Flat Organization, Real Impact: Your voice and designs will directly shape our technical roadmap and our clients' success. You'll work on the latest tech to solve real problems.

  • A \"Learn-from-it\" Culture: We're moving fast and building new things. We believe mistakes are learning opportunities, not failures.

We seek diverse talent who are ready to make an immediate impact. We believe that innovation thrives when teams are built with a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
