Excellent communication Skills are required 

We are seeking a Sr. SCOM Engineer with ability to architect, design, and deploy Microsoft System Center Operation Manager in a mid to large size, complex, multi-zoned environment. Candidate must have experience with Microsoft Windows Server engineering, use of Microsoft System Center tools, creation of PowerShell scripts, orchestrations, and software-based workflows to deliver end-to-end services that span platforms, infrastructure components, and environments.


Position Responsibilities

Lead architecture and design of new SCOM implementation.

Standup Test & Production SCOM environments

Enable support for several external gateways, different network zones

Enable multiple authentication methodologies to support both Kerberos and x509

Enable server performance monitoring with thresholds and baselines 

Install and configure Management Packs: Validate effectiveness and value

Contribute to team evaluating and/or integrating other enterprise monitoring solutions

Enable Data Warehousing for long-term storage, analysis, reporting


Required Technical Skills

5+ years managing Enterprise Monitoring tools, 3+ years with SCOM.

5+ years systems engineering and systems administration of a Windows-based environment.

Experience identifying, implementing and documenting monitoring standards, procedures, and policies

3+ years designing, developing, and supporting monitoring solutions for SQL Server, SharePoint, IIS, and .NET applications using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager.

Experience must include authoring and managing management packs and distributed applications. Must also have experience integrating SCOM with other monitoring solutions, MOMs.

5+ years: script development using PowerShell or Visual Basic for automation of systems administration.

Experience tuning capacity and fault alerts within SCOM; able to provide guidance relating to meaningful and appropriate thresholds.

Experience with design and implementation of high-availability/fault tolerant instances of System Center tools.


Demonstrated ability to apply expert level technical writing and presentation skills to support creation and publication of project artifacts and documentation.


System Center Operations Manager 


ITIL Foundation certification

Desired Skills

Working knowledge and experience using System Center Configuration Manager.

Experience with Orchestrator

Experience monitoring non-Windows environments with SCOM

Experience working with VMWare 

Expertise deploying Windows Workflows and SharePoint Workflows.


Required Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or higher (preferably in CS, EE or related MIS)
