Purpose

The Senior Manager will be a key part of Risk Reporting function under the GBM Risk Governance and Insights team, which provides day-to-day strategic support to execute the U.S. Risk Management's mandate and ensure specific goals, plans, and initiatives are achieved.  The Senior Manager will be primarily responsible for regular and ad-hoc risk reports to management and board level committees and other regulatory bodies, working with various stakeholders.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and oversee monthly/quarterly/ad-hoc risk reporting for various management and board level committees and regulatory bodies.
  • Committee schedule calendar management
  • Agenda setting and tracking
  • Development of presentation materials (including compilation of various risk team's report submission as well creation of new contents)
  • Meeting minutes drafting
  • Responding to audit / regulatory inquires on committee meeting materials
  • Other admin activities such as committee membership attendance tracking, charter update, recordkeeping, etc.
  • Deliver impactful, data-driven insights through advanced visualization and reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making across GBM Risk Management.
  • Translate complex business needs into intuitive dashboards and automated workflows using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Play a critical part in shaping analytical narratives, optimizing data pipelines, and enabling scalable, self-service reporting capabilities that drive operational efficiency and business performance.
  • Support special projects as needed.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Reporting Relationships 

Primary Manager:     Director, Head of Strategic Initiatives, U.S. Risk Management

Dimensions

The Senior Manager leads various initiatives independently by working with risk officers and other senior executives regarding risk reporting and other strategic initiatives that require operational support to deliver key U.S. initiatives. The role is highly visible to senior risk officers including U.S. Chief Risk Officer.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • 7-10 years of experience preferably within the financial services industry
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Holds a problem-solver mindset that creates/implements new solutions and motivates others
  • Highly organized with attention to details
  • Team player
  • Ability to prioritize and operate proactively
  • Understands the importance of being well organized while being in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. The workload is challenging and may be subject to frequent time pressure sensitivities with a steady flow of project delivery commitments, both internal and external which require specific deadlines. The workload is subject to continual prioritization due to changes in incoming requests.
