Job description

Senior Risk Associate - Risk, Infrastructure, and Governance

Commercial Risk is a first line of defense function which supports our Commercial Banking Lines of Business in managing non-credit risk. Commercial Risk associates collaborate across the division, as well as with other Line of Business first line teams and second and third line partners, to develop and implement well-managed risk practices.

As a Sr. Risk Associate on the Risk Infrastructure and Governance team, the ideal candidate will have excellent written & verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, flexibility in managing changing priorities in an Agile framework, and a desire to help the Commercial Bank succeed.

Strong problem solving, integrative thinking, prioritization, and analytical skills are essential for success in this role. Additionally, building win-win partnerships with multiple business stakeholders and across Commercial Risk work streams while adapting to change in a dynamic environment are key for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Commercial Bank Policy Office: writing, updating, and socializing relevant policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Provide support for Regulatory Change Management: assisting in the research, analysis, and documentation of the impacts of new or changed Federal and State laws, rules, regulations, and resulting legal requirements to Commercial Bank products and services.

  • Assist Commercial Bank Cross Border Banking program: assessing the risks associated with foreign borrowers and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist International Risk: Country Risk Assessments and drafting Country Exit Plans for in-scope countries for the Commercial Bank.

  • Strategic Reporting: Provide comprehensive support for reporting routines, ensuring metrics are accurate and actionable for senior executive stakeholders.

  • Drive Operational Excellence: Lead daily task execution across the team's full scope, ensuring consistent delivery against project milestones and operational requirements.

  • Operational Continuity: Serve as the primary coverage resource for key team functions during periods of transition or leave, minimizing disruptions to critical workstreams.

  • Horizontal Engagement Model: Develop and document a horizontal engagement model to clarify roles, interactions, and responsibilities across team functions, moving from reactive to proactive program management.

  • Collaborating with partners within Commercial Risk, Compliance, Legal, and various groups across the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of Financial Services or Risk Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Commercial Bank experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in a risk related role (audit, 1st line, 2nd line)

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
