Job Summary:
Apt is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead strategically vital cross-functional projects within an Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO). This role is responsible for the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of high-value, enterprise-level projects that are critical, large, and complex.
Responsibilities:
• Lead cross-functional resources through planning efforts to produce comprehensive planning artifacts that define execution strategy, scope, and delivery approach
• Create and manage detailed project plans, including identification of predecessors and dependencies that impact execution strategy
• Manage multiple, interdependent projects and project teams simultaneously
• Facilitate project meetings with team members and stakeholders to review progress, address challenges, and align on next steps
• Identify risks or issues related to scope, timeline, cost, or benefits and partner with leadership and stakeholders to mitigate them
• Drive project teams toward milestone completion and report progress regularly
• Lead ongoing interactions with leadership and key stakeholders to inform, escalate, negotiate, and maintain alignment on project outcomes
• Collaborate with and manage external vendors and suppliers as needed to support project delivery
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization
• Own forums used to communicate goals, status, issues, and key decisions
• Collaborate with teams to resolve complex portfolio issues and recommend solutions or best practices
• Manage multiple high-visibility, complex initiatives while maintaining professionalism in all situations
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years of experience leading large-scale, cross-functional projects; experience with IT and Finance/Accounting projects is a plus
• Proven ability to translate a business need or objective into a fully developed project from planning through execution and value realization
• Strong problem-solving skills related to project barriers, risks, and resource constraints
• Demonstrated success leading large initiatives in a project management or business leadership capacity
• Strong leadership, project governance, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to assess complex issues, recommend best practices, and drive strategic outcomes
• Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation abilities
• Proficiency with project management and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, ServiceNow, or similar)
• Successful delivery of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives with multimillion-dollar budgets
Preferred:
• Project management certifications preferred but not required
• Candidates located in Central Alabama with the ability to spend some days each week in a Birmingham-area office
• IT and/or Finance background
• Procurement, vendor management, or third-party risk experience
