Job Description:

Milwaukee Tool is looking for a Senior Reliability Engineer to be part of the Battery System Reliability team. This role will be a vital part of the development of new energized device products that will provide power to the next generation of advanced power tools. As a senior reliability engineer, you will work with a cross-functional team spanning design engineering, product marketing engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, and factory quality personnel to bring products to market in a fast paced environment. This work environment requires the ability to quickly pivot, manage change, and analyze test data to make sound judgements; all in the effort to continue to deliver the outstanding products that our customers demand from Milwaukee Tool.

Duties and Responsibilities

Product Development and Life Cycle Management

  • Collaborate and lead teams to evaluate new product designs and engineering changes with respect to product reliability, user requirements and warranty information

  • Coordinate with Engineering and Marketing to define product specifications required for all aspects of test validation for reliability and quality requirements.

  • Optimize product testing to shorten test durations, make concrete design decisions, and shorten the product development process.

  • Lead Risk Assessments (Design and Manufacturing) during the product development cycle

  • Collaborate with our Global suppliers to optimize the quality of the components that Milwaukee integrates into its product portfolio.

  • Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process.

Testing/Analysis

  • Develop test plans and procedures based on new or established products, to ensure product meets customer requirements

  • Lead test laboratories implementing test plans/procedures ensuring full test completion and best practices are utilized

  • Apply statistical analysis and reliability modeling, to analyze product data to draw conclusions, and communicate findings through reports and presentations that are concise, logical, and definitive..

  • Ensure timely failure reporting and lead root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or educational equivalent field

  • 5+ years of experience in related reliability and quality field

  • Experience with new product commercialization processes emphasizing design, manufacturing, quality, test or reliability activities

  • Experience including training in quality engineering fundamentals and proven experience leading a primary function within a project team

  • Previous relevant experience with Design of Experiments, life data analysis, and other related statistical tools and software (i.e. Minitab, Reliasoft)

  • Written and verbal communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International)

  • Preferred: ASQ Reliability Engineering Certification (ASQ-CRE) or the ability and desire to achieve certification

  • Preferred: Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) or Six Sigma experience

  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience working with power electronics design and reliability

  • Preferred: Working knowledge of international safety standards and testing methods like IEC, UL, UN, etc relevant to energy storage products.
