Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Recruiter / Human Resources Generalist to lead recruiting and support the ongoing development and management of talent across a local construction company. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both finding great people and helping employees grow once they join the company.

The position will recruit across a variety of professional and operational roles, with a particular focus on mid-level through senior-level positions. Experience recruiting within construction, general contracting, heavy civil, engineering, environmental services, or a related industry is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for positions ranging from early-career professionals through senior-level management.
  • Recruit for roles including Project Engineers, Project Coordinators, Health & Safety professionals, Project Managers, technical specialists, and senior-level managers.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop recruiting strategies, and identify the skills and experience needed for each position.
  • Proactively source passive and active candidates through LinkedIn, professional networks, industry associations, referrals, job boards, and other recruiting channels.
  • Develop relationships with colleges, universities, technical schools, and trade schools to create pipelines for interns, entry-level professionals, and skilled talent.
  • Coordinate and participate in career fairs, campus recruiting events, networking events, and other talent outreach initiatives.
  • Manage candidate screening, interviewing, selection, offers, and pre-employment processes.
  • Track recruiting activity and provide leadership with updates on hiring progress, pipeline strength, and workforce needs.
  • Partner with managers and employees to create career development and growth plans that support both individual goals and organizational needs.
  • Help establish career paths and identify opportunities for employees to expand their skills and responsibilities.
  • Work with leadership on employee development, internal mobility, promotions, and succession planning.
  • Handle new-hire onboarding and ensure required employment documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and general benefits questions.
  • Provide support for payroll-related changes, employee information updates, and other HR administrative processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, talent management, or human resources.
  • Strong full-cycle recruiting experience, particularly for professional, technical, and management-level positions.
  • Experience within construction, general contracting, heavy civil, engineering, environmental services, or a similar project-driven industry is a must
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships and recruiting through colleges, universities, technical schools, and/or trade schools.
  • Experience developing employee career paths, growth plans, or succession strategies.
  • Comfortable partnering with managers on promotions, performance concerns, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration, onboarding, payroll processes, and employment practices.
  • Ability to balance recruiting priorities with ongoing employee and talent-management responsibilities.
