Job description

Position Title: Senior Quality Technician

Location: Williamsport, MD

Reports To: Quality Manager

Department: Production

Classification: Exempt, Full-Time

Salary: $65,000-$75,000 DOE

 

Position Summary

The Sr. Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and tests across all stages of production including on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet company quality standards, engineering drawings, and/or inspection instructions and maintain detailed records.
  • Accepts or rejects material, parts, and assemblies, using engineering drawings and/or inspection instructions.
  • Perform visual inspections, measurements, and functional tests using various tools and equipment.
  • Control plan, deviation request, change order request, and QA alert management.
  • Own the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to validate to the customer that all areas of the design and production processes have been reviewed to ensure high quality products.
  • Identify and report any non-conformities or deviations from quality standards to Product Engineering and Quality Manager.
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints or product failures to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality control procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans.
  • Facilitate and support efforts to continuously improve product quality, while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with quality management system requirements.
  • Assist in the training of employees on quality control procedures and practices.
  • Directly communicate with mold suppliers on injection mold repair and modification management.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to quality control.
  • Conducts process audits of production processes.
  • Accurately records and reports inspection results.
  • Performs first piece inspections and other assigned run inspections.
  • Maintains quality tool calibrations and creates/maintains an equipment maintenance plan.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, with 2+ years in a Quality Technician or similar quality control role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles, techniques, and tools.
  • Experience with inspection methods and equipment (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and analysis.
  • Ensures implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures.
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull 40 pounds.

 

Education and Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or technical certification in a related field is preferred.
