Job description

Senior-Level Electromechanical Technician

Aviation & Missile Solutions, LLC. (AMS) is seeking a talented Electromechanical Technician to join our diverse team, in Huntsville, AL., to create unique solutions for complex problems. AMS provides responsive, cost-effective engineering and scientific solutions ranging from air and missile defense technologies, command and control, radar systems, seekers, modeling & simulation, and prototype hardware development and testing.

The Senior-Level Electromechanical Technician position involves installing, maintaining, and repairing complex systems that combine mechanical and electrical components. The position may also include fabricating, testing, assessing, and adjusting precision equipment and instruments according to blueprints and other specifications, using hand tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. Candidates should have extensive experience in assembly, prototyping, and production manufacturing as well as adhering to safety protocols and standard operating procedures.


Location:

  • Huntsville, AL
  • Position is full-time in the office.

Basic Qualifications (required):

  • Experience in assembly, prototyping, and production manufacturing.
  • Experience in testing, building, customizing and troubleshooting (must have soldering experience) electronic assemblies and PCB's (experience with both through-hole and SMT PCBA's).
  • Working knowledge of proficient soldering and re-work techniques in accordance with IPC standards.
  • Experience working from schematics, blueprints, written work orders, and oral instructions to repair or modify assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
  • Ability to build simple cable assemblies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PCBA, SMD environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of through-hole components and processes including polarity, flux chemistry, solder alloy, and J-STD-001 requirements.
  • Able to effectively perform the following tasks: Liquid masking application, stuffing PCBAs with through-hole components, lead trimming, tape masking application, unmasking PCBAs, manual cleaning of PCBAs, and mechanical assembly.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Requires a high school diploma
  • 10+ years of technician experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, and maneuver various components and tools during installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

Security Requirements:

  • Citizenship: Candidate must be a US citizen.
  • Clearance level: Candidate must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
