Job description

Senior Project Engineer – Engineered Solutions

Location: Louisville, KY
Salary Range: $120,000 – $125,000

Overview

Support the cross-functional delivery of engineered-to-order (ETO) solutions, partnering with sales, vendors, and customers. Lead the design, estimation, and management of custom sanitary processing systems, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualized and designed large-scale sanitary manufacturing and cleaning systems for food, beverage, dairy, personal care, or pharmaceutical industries.

  • Evaluated customer opportunities with the sales team to develop tailored solutions that align with business objectives.

  • Prepared engineering documentation using CAD tools, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment layouts, general assemblies, and 3D models.

  • Developed cost estimates and technical proposals, assisting sales in presenting solutions to customers.

  • Served as both project manager and design engineer for complex custom projects, overseeing technical performance, quality, cost, and scheduling.

  • Led technical design reviews and acted as the primary on-site contact for installations and subcontractor coordination.

  • Managed scope changes, issued change orders, and developed full project documentation and turnover packages.

  • Communicated regularly with internal leadership and maintained strong cross-department relationships.

  • Mentored team members and promoted continuous improvement in engineering practices.

  • Applied relevant industry standards and stayed current with new technologies and integration strategies.

  • Coordinated with third-party partners, vendors, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensured safety protocols and certifications were maintained and promoted both in the field and in-house.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (Master's preferred).

  • Strong background in sanitary fluid processing and related industries.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design/drafting tools.

  • Ability to create and interpret P&IDs.

  • Skilled in project management, cost estimation, proposal development, and customer engagement.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and project management tools.

  • Willing to travel up to 35% to customer and vendor locations.

  • Comfortable in a culture that values collaboration, accountability, and adaptability.
