Senior Project Engineers are experienced professionals who lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion. They coordinate project teams, oversee design and technical aspects, ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget, and maintain communication with stakeholders. Their role often includes problem-solving, risk management, and making critical decisions to ensure project success. Senior Project Engineers typically have several years of experience and advanced knowledge in their engineering discipline.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to join our growing Project Engineering team. This is a highly visible, client-facing role focused primarily on the successful technical onboarding of new clients, as well as the delivery of infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and technology transformation projects for existing clients.

The Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for assessing client environments, designing and implementing technical solutions, developing detailed transition plans, and ensuring projects are completed according to scope, timeline, and established technical standards. This individual will work closely with clients, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Systems Engineers, and other internal stakeholders to communicate progress, resolve technical challenges, and deliver a seamless client experience.

The successful candidate will combine strong hands‑on technical expertise with organization, ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to clearly communicate with both technical and non‑technical audiences. This role also serves as a technical escalation point and mentor for other engineers, providing strong opportunities for continued professional, technical, and leadership growth.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical onboarding and implementation of new client environments
  • Architect, implement, and document secure technical solutions for new and existing client infrastructures
  • Develop and execute detailed technical work plans, implementation plans, and client transition strategies
  • Build and configure client environments that may include cloud-based SaaS solutions, virtual servers, networking equipment, desktops, laptops, and other common business technologies
  • Perform cloud, infrastructure, security, and technology assessments and provide recommendations that enhance Atlas Technica’s service offering and deliver additional value to clients
  • Deliver infrastructure, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, and application‑related projects according to established scope, timelines, and technical standards
  • Identify project risks, technical dependencies, and potential roadblocks and communicate them proactively to Project Managers and other stakeholders
  • Provide consistent project updates regarding technical strategy, progress, adjustments, risks, and next steps
  • Attend and actively participate in client‑facing meetings, technical discovery sessions, project reviews, and implementation discussions
  • Respond to client questions and provide proactive technical guidance throughout the onboarding and project lifecycle
  • Serve as a technical escalation point and subject matter expert for Project Engineers, Systems Engineers, and clients during active projects
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that arise during implementations and client transitions
  • Work cross‑functionally to build strong relationships with technical and non‑technical colleagues, clients, vendors, and other project stakeholders
  • Research, evaluate, design, and test new and existing technologies that support client business objectives and Atlas Technica’s technology strategy
  • Improve the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of implementations through automation, scripting, documentation, and established toolsets
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, project records, implementation procedures, and client environment information
  • Help cross‑train, coach, mentor, and upskill Project Engineers, Systems Engineers, and interns
  • Follow Atlas Technica’s technical standards, security requirements, documentation expectations, and change‑control procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of relevant IT experience in areas such as desktop support, systems engineering, systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or project engineering
  • Experience leading or contributing to technical implementations, infrastructure projects, client migrations, or new‑client onboarding initiatives
  • Strong end‑user and desktop support experience, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and home or remote‑office networking
  • Strong experience implementing and supporting Microsoft 365 technologies, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Intune, Conditional Access, and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Experience implementing and supporting cloud‑based platforms and collaboration technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Box, Dropbox, or similar solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server platforms, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, identity management, and email‑flow troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure licensing
  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise networking equipment, including Palo Alto or Cisco firewalls, Cisco switches, and Cisco, Meraki, or Ubiquiti wireless access points
  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies and concepts, including TCP/IP, LAN, DMZ, WAN, DHCP, DNS, routing protocols, switching, and firewalls
  • Experience implementing and supporting cybersecurity and email‑security products such as Mimecast, Sophos, Symantec, Proofpoint, or similar technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft PowerShell, the Microsoft Graph API, or similar tools to automate Microsoft 365 administration and implementation tasks
  • Ability to assess technical environments, identify risks or gaps, and recommend practical solutions
  • Ability to create and execute technical project plans while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively and independently within a remote environment while remaining highly collaborative
  • Ability to work a schedule aligned with Eastern Time business hours
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a rapidly growing, fast‑paced environment
Desirable Qualities
  • Experience working within a Managed Service Provider environment
  • Experience supporting clients within the financial services, hedge fund, investment management, or alternative investment industries
  • Familiarity with financial market applications such as Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, FactSet, and Capital IQ
  • Experience designing or supporting public‑cloud environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered
  • Experience serving as a technical lead, escalation point, or mentor for other engineers
  • Strong client‑service mindset with the ability to build trust and maintain effective client relationships
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to established scope, timeline, and budget
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
