Senior Project Accountant
Summary
The Senior Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting. This role partners with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate project financials, identify risks, and support informed business decisions.
Job Duties
  • Track project costs, budgets, commitments, and purchase orders.
  • Review and process vendor invoices, subcontractor billings, and customer invoicing.
  • Prepare project forecasts, cash flow reports, and budget-to-actual analyses.
  • Monitor change orders and ensure proper financial documentation and approvals.
  • Reconcile project financial records and accounting system data.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analyses for management.
  • Support project closeout activities, final billings, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, contracts, and internal controls.
  • Partner with project managers to identify financial risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in project accounting.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP or project accounting systems
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
