Job description

Amazon is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join the Corporate Accounting Enterprise Program Office (CAEPO) responsible for contributing to the launch of automation initiatives across the Accounting organization. With the rapid growth of the company, it is essential to make continued investments in process improvement, automation, and technology. This role is based in the US but will have a globally impacting scope and will partner with the world-wide Accounting teams.

A successful candidate in this position will have experience in accounting automation, aptitude for project management, technology, internal controls and process design.
This position supports and can directly influence the implementation of accounting technology automation solutions to drive process improvement, reduce manual effort, and improve financial controllership for account reconciliations and the overall month-end close cycle. It requires the ability to interpret accounting requirements and transform those to a technical solution with the support of technical partners. The Senior Program Manager will collaborate with a broad group of stakeholders from local and global accounting, business, finance and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions to complex problems.

Strong prioritization and communication skills are required in representing the accounting organization's responsibility of financial controllership to internal stakeholders from non-financial disciplines. Practical project management experience is required, along with demonstrable exposure to leading and delivering on technical projects.
The role offers the opportunity to participate in influencing innovative business and accounting opportunities and to work closely with experienced cross-functional partners. As a member of the team, this individual will also have access to internal training and coaching opportunities to further develop the skills required to excel as a Senior Program Manager in the organization.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to influence automation design and implementation with financial best practices
- Gather and document detailed functional accounting requirements and drive the prioritization and execution of technical deliverables
- Define a project plan and think critically to identify, evaluate and communicate on potential risks and obstacles early in the project lifecycle
- Define and execute on the pre-launch user acceptance testing and lead the automation launch readiness assessment
- Prioritize effectively to manage a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting manual effort reduction, account reconciliation automation, and process efficiency while maintaining financial control
- Streamline program delivery across the accounting organization by standardizing project communications, execution and documentation, ensuring consistent, scalable global processes
Role can be based out of Seattle, Arlington, Los Angeles, Boston, Austin, Nashville, Portland.
Key job responsibilities
- Proven technical and functional expertise related to Blackline financial close automation solutions or similar ERP's.
- Partner with key counterparts across geographies to launch business and/or technical initiatives in a scalable and cost effective manner
- End-to-end project management across a suite of launches within a program
- Develop a solid understanding of Amazon's Finance - systems and processes
- Translate complex business requirements into functional designs
- Oversee comprehensive testing of systems changes and development of standard operating procedures, process documentation and performance metrics
- Manage process transitions/implementations across multiple functions and geographies
- Motivate and influence business, operational and technical teams to ensure that best practices are followed and implemented
- Identify, assess, track and mitigate risks at multiple levels
- Proactively monitor program performance to identify, address and prevent potential issues
- Address barriers through problem solving, communication and active coordination with stakeholders
- Drive effective teamwork, communication collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities
