Senior Product Design information

What is a senior product designer?

A Senior Product Designer is an experienced professional responsible for leading the design of products, typically digital products like websites or apps. They collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to create user-centered solutions, oversee the design process from ideation to delivery, and often mentor junior designers. Senior Product Designers use research, prototyping, and testing to ensure products are both functional and visually appealing. Their role is critical in shaping the overall user experience and aligning design decisions with business goals.

How does a senior product designer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product success?

Senior Product Designers work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and marketing teams throughout the product development process. They play a key role in facilitating workshops, gathering stakeholder feedback, and ensuring user-centered design solutions align with business goals. Effective communication and the ability to advocate for design decisions are essential, as Senior Product Designers often bridge the gap between user needs and technical feasibility. Regular collaboration ensures that the final product delivers a consistent and engaging user experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior product designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Product Designer, you need expertise in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, strong problem-solving abilities, and a solid portfolio showcasing relevant design projects. Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with prototyping and user testing platforms is typically required. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills help you influence stakeholders and mentor junior designers. These skills and qualities are essential for creating user-centered products that drive business goals and deliver outstanding user experiences.

Careers At SponsorCX

Product Manager III / Senior Product Manager

Department: Engineering Product & Design    |    Location: Lehi, Utah    |    Employment Type: Full-time    |    Reports To: Vice President, Product

SponsorCX helps sponsorship teams and the brands who invest in them move off spreadsheets and disconnected tools, centralizing and automating the sponsorship lifecycle from pitch to renewal. Our customers include some of the most recognized properties and brands in the country.

Why Work At SponsorCX

  • We're building a platform that's changing how sponsorships get managed, and our customers see the difference it makes in their day.
  • We put the customer at the center of every decision we make.
  • We've raised multiple rounds of funding and are well-financed for our next stage of growth.
  • Our leadership team is committed to a performance-based culture where excellence is rewarded and careers grow.
  • We do well with people who bring a player-coach mentality, value cross-functional teamwork, and choose perseverance over shortcuts.

Job Summary

The Product Manager III (Sr Product Manager) owns the full product lifecycle across a strategic domain — from problem framing and discovery through delivery, iteration, and roadmap planning. This role operates with a high degree of independence, bringing structured recommendations to leadership rather than open questions, and driving alignment across Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and Sales.

A Product Manager III manages a portfolio of initiatives simultaneously at different stages of the development lifecycle, sets the pace for their cross-functional team, and is accountable for both the outcomes and the commitments their product area makes to the business and its customers. They actively leverage AI tools and workflows to increase their own leverage and contribute to the company's AI product direction.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full product lifecycle for a strategic domain — from discovery and problem framing through delivery, iteration, and roadmap planning
  • Manage a portfolio of initiatives simultaneously across different stages of the development lifecycle — discovery, design, execution, release, and iteration
  • Drive discovery end-to-end — synthesizing customer insight, CS feedback, sales input, and market signals into a clear, recommended direction before prescribing solutions
  • Bring structured recommendations to leadership — framing problems with proposed paths, risks, and trade-offs rather than open questions
  • Own delivery planning and execution against customer and company commitments, proactively identifying risks and timeline adjustments before they become escalations
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and Sales
  • Independently manage complex prioritization across roadmap commitments, discovery work, technical constraints, and emerging business opportunities
  • Navigate complex customer and stakeholder dynamics, balancing roadmap integrity with strategic business needs
  • Write and maintain clear product requirements, engineering tickets, and customer-facing documentation
  • Actively leverage AI tools and workflows to accelerate discovery, analysis, communication, and execution — and contribute to the company's AI product direction
  • Provide mentorship and craft development to PM II and other less senior product team members

What Success Looks Like

  • Delivery of product initiatives on time and within scope
  • Proactive identification and resolution of delivery risks before they become escalations
  • Quality and clarity of recommendations brought to leadership with problems framed with a proposed path, risks, and trade-offs
  • Customer satisfaction and feedback
  • Alignment between product delivery and business goals
  • Demonstrated ability to drive alignment across Engineering, Design, Customer Success, and Sales without direct authority

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum five years of experience in product management or related roles
  • Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with engineering teams to deliver software products
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to translate business and customer needs into product requirements
  • Experience working in a SaaS or technology environment, ideally with some exposure to self-serve or usage-based growth motions
  • Experience building customer-facing AI products
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving startup environment where agility and ownership are required in equal measure

Preferred

  • Proven experience scaling a freemium or free-trial SaaS product via bottom-up adoption
  • Ability to measure and improve the free-to-paid funnel, including user activation, conversion, and revenue expansion over time

Work Environment

  • This role works a hybrid schedule: [3] days in the office, [2] days remote
  • Fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
  • Flexible schedules with an emphasis on communication and accountability

Compensation, Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive compensation
  • Majority of medical and dental insurance paid
  • Unlimited PTO with a leadership team that encourages taking time off and using it to recharge
  • Fourteen paid holidays, including one week off at the end of the year
  • Paid maternity and parental leave
  • Stocked kitchen and company activities
