Job description

Brandt Developments is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer, in its Regina, SK, location to lead and independently manage civil engineering design for commercial and industrial developments projects for the Brandt Group of Companies across Canada and abroad. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with specialized expertise in paving structures, stormwater management systems and calculations, site grading design, and all aspects of civil infrastructure specific to commercial and industrial sites including septic management systems in rural settings.

This role requires strong technical knowledge, regulatory expertise, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while coordinating effectively with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Lead and execute the design of civil engineering components for commercial and industrial building sites, including:
    • Paving structures (parking lots, roadways, loading areas)
    • Stormwater management systems and drainage calculations
    • Site grading and earthworks balancing
    • Utility coordination (water, sewer, power, communications)
  • Prepare comprehensive civil design packages including drawings, specifications, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Perform advanced stormwater modeling, hydrological analysis, and erosion control planning in compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Independently navigate permitting processes with various Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including municipalities, conservation authorities, and provincial/federal regulators.
  • Review and interpret regulatory codes, design standards, and industry best practices to ensure compliance in all project deliverables.
  • Prepare and review construction cost estimates, tender documents, and bid evaluations for civil scopes of work.
  • Conduct site visits for due diligence, design verification, and construction observation.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, and clients to integrate civil design seamlessly with overall project requirements.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and quality control reviews for designers.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and public officials.

Required Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of provincial and municipal design standards, including familiarity with CSA, TAC, and municipal guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for client interactions, technical writing, and regulatory negotiations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects and priorities.

Required Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution (Masterโ€™s degree an asset).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design with a focus on commercial and industrial sites in Canada.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada
  • Proven expertise in:
    • Stormwater management design and modeling
    • Site grading and earthworks
    • Asphalt and concrete paving systems
    • Regulatory permitting and municipal approvals
  • Proficiency with civil design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, SWMHYMO, PCSWMM, HydroCAD, or equivalent stormwater modeling tools.
  • Experience in construction administration and contract management.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to travel to project sites as required
