Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Job Location: 11000 Regency Pkwy STE 107, Cary, NC 27518
Primary Function:
The Senior Project Manager leads the development and execution for high voltage engineering projects in industrial or utility settings, playing a key role in the proposal effort and managing the project through close-out. This role directs coordination between clients and other external entities, driving project planning, budgeting and establishing critical project objectives. Project assignments are expected to be managed independently.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
  • Participate in the project proposal and bid process in conjunction with the Sales department
  • Negotiate, approve and execute prime contracts, subcontracts, and change orders
  • Review, evaluate and implement project specifications, drawing releases and design changes
  • Communicate project status, risks, schedule and costs to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop, review and approve internal and external project reports including project budgeting, project cash flow forecast, and project status reports
  • Routinely present project updates to senior management
  • Lead multi-discipline project team in support of assigned project
  • Direct and oversee the subcontract bid process and prepare detailed scope of work documents for Supplier and Subcontract contracts.
  • Develop, implement, execute and oversee Prime Contract and Subcontractor invoicing process
  • Direct the securing of applicable project permits
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management or related field is required. Ten years of experience in the supervision/management of budgets and work groups is required. Experience in managing high voltage projects is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of substations, substation control and transmission systems is strongly preferred
  • Understand financial aspects of project controls
  • Ability to negotiate and influence key decision makers
  • Technical writing skills with an understanding of business management concepts
  • Proficient in cost control or project management software such as Microsoft Project and Primavera
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Travel to project sites as necessary

Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires minimal physical effort.
  • Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
