Open Rank Physicist – Radiation Oncology (Duarte) (Exempt)

City of Hope Medical Center Radiation Oncology is seeking a full-time, Board-Certified Medical Physicist at our beautiful, sunny Southern California academic campus in Duarte. City of Hope is a private, non-profit clinical research center, hospital, and graduate school in Southern California, providing high quality cancer care across four (4) states. Receiving its NCI designation in 1981, City of Hope is committed to providing comprehensive cancer care and its status as a leading cancer center. Here, in Duarte, we are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including: Reflexion, Ethos, Radixact, Tomotherapy, TrueBeam, TrueBeam STX and Flexitron HDR. In addition, we also have amble simulation capabilities including CT, PET/CT and 3T MRI simulation units. 

City of Hope provides ample support and opportunity for our physicists to develop both a clinical and research career. We also have an established Physics Residency program. Our department is growing with a team of 14 radiation oncologists (4 research focused), 9 physicists, 2 physics residents and physics assistant. Additional academic responsibilities may include research and teaching activities based on the candidate’s interests and accomplishments. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead advanced radiation treatment planning including dose calculations, plan optimization, and rigorous quality assurance to ensure safe, effective, and patient-specific therapies.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team—radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, therapists, and other clinical staff—demonstrating exceptional communication skills to ensure clear documentation, coordinated workflows, and superior patient care.
  • Leverage state-of-the-art technology to design, implement, and optimize precise cancer treatment solutions, maintaining the highest standards of safety and clinical effectiveness.
    • We offer a broad range of special procedures including SRS, SBRT, TBI (TMI), TSE, high-dose-rate and low-dose rate brachytherapy, adaptive treatment, biology guided radiation therapy. We utilize a variety of treatment planning options including Varian Eclipse, Accuray Precision, and Electa Oncentra. The main R&V system is Aria.   

Your qualifications may include:

  • PhD in Physics or related field
  • ABR or ACMP certification (or eligibility, with certification within 2 years of hire)
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills—you’ll thrive in a collaborative, patient-focused environment, working closely with colleagues to ensure every patient receives the best care possible

  • Note: For candidates with >5 years of experiences, we may consider applicants for a Senior Physicist role; the pay range is:$237,577/yr - $308,651/yr - $380,140/yr (or $114.22/hr - $148.39/hr - $182.76/hr)
  • Note: For candidates with <5 years of experiences, we may consider applicants for a Physicist role; the pay range is:$196,352/yr - $255,257/yr - $314,163/yr (or $94.40/hr - $122.72/hr - $151.04/hr
