Job description

Senior Material Handler

In alignment with company vision, mission, values, and objectives, the Senior Material Handler is primarily responsible for the shipping and receiving process from start to finish by performing all SAP transactions and fulfilling shipment (labels, dispatch pickups, etc.) deadlines each day. Secondary Responsibility is to backup the Material Handler as needed. Shipping and Receiving Responsibilities include performing cycle counting when necessary, creating daily shipping agenda according to open order report, utilizing 3PL web-site to create BOLs and dispatch pick-ups, completing all shipping and receiving transactions within SAP, scheduling scrap container and trash pick-ups and swaps, creating labels for pickup and packing lists as needed for orders (most are auto generated in SAP); packing shipment, fulfilling stock orders according to daily shipping agenda, ensuring all shipments are picked-up and daily shipping agenda, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Material Handler Responsibilities (Backup as needed) include working closely with the Supervisor to monitor supply levels and submit purchasing recommendations on a regular basis, working closely with the Supervisor and Logistics Supervisor to ensure material locations and movements are coordinated and documented in the computer system, performing material consumption inputs into the ERP system which may include shipping and receiving transactions, production orders and close all department production orders after completing a final review for accuracy for raw materials, WIP and finish goods stocks, maintaining inventory by identifying, labeling and placing materials and supplies in stock and updating computer locations and quantity, keeping and recording accurate locations of inventory for inventory accuracy within the ERP, promptly alerting supervisor of any location or quantity errors discovered via normal business or cycle counting activities, moving and disposing of scrap material properly while being in compliance with warehouse safety regulations, being accountable for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personnel protective equipment, assisting in maintaining the facility in a clean and orderly condition, keeping the flow of the process moving in a steady pace, by staging needed material to meet schedule requirements, verifying material has been issued out on production orders and close out production orders, moving material from staging areas into stock locations, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Required qualifications include 3+ years experience in manufacturing, production (required), 1+ years LN and SAP systems (preferred), high school diploma or GED (required), and forklift certification (required). Additional requirements include flexibility and the ability to adopt to changes in the workplace, forklift operator certificate, capability of reading and reviewing pick slips and production orders, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently or in a team setting as required, ability to prioritize tasks and meet critical deadlines as required, previous experience as a material handler or in a similar role preferred, proficiency in operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment, excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, and knowledge of distribution center operations is a plus.
