Sr. Manufacturing Process EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes supporting precision aerospace components. This role supports the full manufacturing lifecycle, including evaluation of component requirements, process development, routing creation, bill of material (BOM) management, manufacturing documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer partners closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, customers, and external suppliers to improve manufacturing performance, ensure compliance with customer requirements, and support efficient, cost-effective production.

This position plays a critical role in process development, manufacturing support, problem resolution, operational excellence, and continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for precision components and assemblies.
  • Create, maintain, and improve Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, process sheets, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support production operations through troubleshooting, process improvements, rework support, and manufacturing issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, program management, production, and supply chain teams to meet customer and operational requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to support manufacturing execution.
  • Support quotation, cost estimating, manufacturing feasibility, and cycle-time analysis activities.
  • Coordinate manufacturing requirements and activities with external suppliers and processing vendors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, productivity, delivery performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Support customer requirements and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions and manufacturing procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and related methodologies.
  • Support quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience supporting manufacturing engineering or process engineering activities within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, manufacturing flow, routing development, and production sequencing.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, process documentation, and GD&T requirements.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, manufacturing instructions, and process documentation.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems utilized for manufacturing planning, routing management, inventory control, and production support.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing troubleshooting, process improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, precision machining, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting RFQ, quoting, cost estimating, manufacturing feasibility studies, and cycle-time analysis.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.
  • Experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating activities with machine shops, processing vendors, and manufacturing suppliers.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, including Siemens NX or comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting production, process development, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, or related technical functions.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, military experience, and manufacturing experience may be considered when accompanied by demonstrated manufacturing process engineering experience.
