The Sr. Accounting Manager’s purpose is to provide the highest quality service and information to both internal and external customers by maximizing the team’s potential to fulfill its responsibilities efficiently and effectively. The Sr. Accounting Manager must exemplify the core values of Others First, Wisdom, and Growth. This position will research and answer accounting questions, complete complex projects, and identify opportunities to innovate. This position ensures the daily operations of the accounting team are successfully completed in timely manner by thoroughly reviewing reports and returns for accuracy, performing quality checks on data and processes, and mentoring and training other team members. The Sr. Accounting Manager will support the Jackson Healthcare Resource Team leaders as well as be responsible for complex ad hoc projects.

Essential Functions and DutiesTeam Leadership and Development
  • Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Provide leadership to associates through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Interview and select accounting intern.
  • Directs, schedules, and coordinates area functions.
  • Support and provide assistance to associates ensuring accounting controls and policies are well understood and followed.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff, building bench strength and succession plans for the accounting function.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on technical accounting matters; research, conclude, and document accounting positions in formal technical memoranda in accordance with GAAP.
Financial Analysis
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide insightful analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for department leaders detailing expenses, controllable costs, and capital projects.
  • Perform and oversee special studies for management, including ratio and trend analyses, and other comparative examinations.
  • Complete cost analysis for capital improvement projects and other changes.
Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Manage department leaders’ budgeting and forecasting processes to help guide strategic decision-making and ensure financial stability.
  • Assist in developing long and short-run budgeting and operational goals and objectives.
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and monitor budgeting and operational plans, policies, and procedures.
Internal Controls
  • Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate financial risks.
  • Responsible for month‑end complex balance sheet reconciliations.
Audit Management
  • Coordinate and facilitate the annual audit process with external auditors, including the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Validate all financial values in the face of the financial statements and footnotes.
  • Address any audit findings and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Company and external auditors.
  • Draft new footnotes, as needed.
Financial Systems and Processes
  • Partner with the Accounting Information Systems team on any implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve data accuracy and integrity.
  • Evaluate established systems and process ensuring all are in accordance with changing regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.
Communication and Decision Support
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives, providing financial insights and analysis to support informed decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and committees as required.
  • Present financial results, analyses, and recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with all Company associates.
  • Ensure that appropriate levels of confidentiality and security are maintained.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Public Accounting experience in audit and assurance preferred.
  • CPA required.
  • MBA required.
  • Management experience of people (direct or indirect) or projects is required.
  • 8-10 years of financial accounting and budgeting experience, including supervisory or lead experience, required.
  • Knowledge of technology function (Hardware, Software/SAAS, Capitalized Software) is a plus.
Required Knowledge
  • Advance knowledge of advanced financial accounting practices and procedures including consolidations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with complex budgeting, costing, pricing, and forecasting practices and procedures.
  • Understands related automated accounting applications, auditing, and data processing functions.
  • Ability to research complex or technical accounting issues and document conclusions in accordance with GAAP.
Skills/Abilities
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage and coordinate projects with multiple individuals and departments as well as be an individual contributor.
