Position Summary


The IT Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of technical professionals within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment, including Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Security Administrators, and Network Operations Center (NOC) personnel. This role is accountable for operational excellence, service delivery, team utilization, customer satisfaction, and ensuring that all work is completed accurately and efficiently.


The ideal candidate is an experienced operations leader who has previously worked in a technical role and understands the day-to-day challenges of supporting clients in an MSP environment. This individual must be highly organized, process-driven, and comfortable communicating with both technical teams and executive-level customer stakeholders.



Responsibilities


Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Security Administrators, and NOC personnel.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained, engaged, and aligned with company objectives.


Service Delivery & Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure service commitments and SLAs are consistently met.
  • Monitor workload distribution and resource utilization to ensure team efficiency and maximize productivity.
  • Review work quality and verify that tasks, projects, and incidents are completed accurately and thoroughly.
  • Establish and maintain operational processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions when necessary.


Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as an escalation point for clients and internal teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer leadership, including Director and C-level stakeholders.
  • Lead customer meetings, operational reviews, and executive business reviews.
  • Present operational metrics, service performance, recommendations, and improvement plans to customers.


Reporting & Process Management

  • Develop and maintain operational dashboards, reports, and KPIs.
  • Conduct regular service reviews and analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure proper documentation, meeting follow-ups, and action item tracking.
  • Verify adherence to established processes and maintain accountability across the team.


Strategic Leadership

  • Participate in strategic planning, capacity planning, and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Assist with staffing plans, hiring decisions, and organizational development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational maturity across the managed services organization.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing technical operations teams in an IT Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
  • Previous experience leading teams of Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Security Administrators, NOC personnel, or similar technical resources.
  • Prior hands-on experience working as a technical resource in systems, network, security, or infrastructure administration.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with RMM and monitoring tools.
  • ITIL certification or equivalent IT service management experience.
  • Technical certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, or cybersecurity certifications are preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
