Job description

The Senior Investor Relations Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the execution of AngloGold Ashanti North America's investor relations strategy within the Sustainability & Corporate Affairs division. This position offers extensive hands-on exposure to core investor relations and shareholder marketing functions, positioning the role holder to become a vital ambassador for the company in the global capital markets. Working closely with the VP Investor Relations, you will assist in executing a robust global investor relations program aimed at generating demand for AngloGold Ashanti's publicly traded securities.
Your role will include proactively communicating the company's investment case, tracking financial and operating consensus estimates, and supporting comprehensive market positioning efforts to enhance AngloGold Ashanti's profile relative to gold ETFs, other mining stocks, and competing equities. Based primarily in the North America Office, this role requires collaboration across global teams to ensure consistent messaging that aligns with broader financial, operational, and ESG communications. You will support investor targeting initiatives, manage sell-side analyst relationships, and coordinate high-profile events including investor days, roadshows, and site tours.
Frequent travel is required to handle executive chaperoning duties and maximize engagement during market interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Accountabilities:
  • Identify, understand, and proactively address safety and environmental hazards, fostering a workplace culture consistent with AngloGold Ashanti's Safety Vision and Values.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to pursue safety and environmental goals, contributing to continuous learning and improvement in safety performance.
  • Ensure that investor communications integrate clear and thoughtful messaging on ESG and safety strategies, reflecting company commitments.

Investor Relations Strategy & Marketing Execution
  • Support the VP Investor Relations in developing and implementing a proactive investor relations strategy and implementation plan.
  • Assist in managing the agreed investor relations calendar, coordinating quarterly, interim, and annual reporting, as well as investor conferences and roadshows.
  • In close collaboration with VP Investor Relations, organize, coordinate, and frequently travel to global marketing activities, including investor days, roadshows, and site tours. A key responsibility includes chaperoning executive management during roadshows and conferences, briefing them on investor profiles, and choreographing market engagements to ensure seamless execution and make the most efficient use of their time. Track all interactions in a CRM system to measure activities.
  • Assist in compiling and updating shareholder target lists to expand and diversify AngloGold Ashanti's investor base, focusing on both existing shareholders and prospective buy-side analysts and portfolio managers.

Investor Relations Materials & Presentations
  • Assist in, and progressively take ownership of, drafting investor-specific materials including investor presentations, financial briefs, and quarterly conference call materials.
  • Communications & ESG to ensure that all financial releases and investor presentations align with broader corporate communications and ESG messaging.

Market Intelligence & Data Analysis
  • Work meticulously through sell-side models and research to build and share a thorough, highly accurate consensus analysis for internal and external use.
  • Provide timely updates and reporting to the VP Investor Relations and internal executive teams on how external forecasts and market sentiment compare to internal expectations, ensuring the company maintains a holistic view of market conditions.
  • Monitor sell-side analyst coverage and reports, maintaining effective relationships and managing expectations within market disclosure regulations.
  • Prepare and report summaries to the Executives and the Board.
  • Engage with key market data providers (e.g., Factset, Visible Alpha, Bloomberg) to optimize the company's data representation and analytical capabilities.
  • Continuously monitor gold and equity markets, producing detailed briefing documents and actionable recommendations to guide strategic investor relations activities.

Query Management & Internal Collaboration
  • Respond promptly and accurately to queries from investors and analysts, retrieving technical answers from within the organization as necessary and filtering information suitable for the market.
  • Work collaboratively with functions including finance, exploration, corporate development, operations, and technical departments to fulfill information requests and contribute to high-quality quarterly financial reports.
  • Provide cooperation and flexibility on ad hoc projects, supporting the day-to-day management of investor relations activities as required.

Qualifications & Experience
  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in mining, finance, or a related field with specialization in mining-related disciplines is required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in investor relations, capital markets, or corporate finance.
  • A strong background in sell-side research or the mining industry (mining, geology) would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze market data, develop consensus forecasts, and communicate complex financial and operational information effectively to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a capacity to create clear, compelling investor materials and presentations.
  • Proven organizational skills with experience managing event logistics, executive briefings, and multi-stakeholder coordination across global teams.
