This role is part of Alcon's Supply Chain function, a team that manages the logistics, inventory management, and supply chain analytics for Alcon's industry leading products to ensure products are delivered efficiently and effectively so that people can see brilliantly.

The Senior Manager, Production Planning Managementis a forward-thinking leadership role within Alcon's Supply Chain organization, responsible for logistics, supply continuity, inventory management, and supply chain analytics supporting Alcon's industryleading products. The role balances service, capacity, and inventory decisions against financial targets, ensuring products are delivered efficiently and reliably while optimizing working capital and cost so people can see brilliantly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct production planning and buyer/planner executionby setting clear priorities, managing daily tactical workloads (POs, reschedules, shortages), and driving accountability to KPI commitments.
  • Make timely, data-driven operational decisionsthat balance output, inventory exposure, cost, and customer service using real-time visibility and constraint-based tradeoff analysis.
  • Provide hands-on functional leadershipin planning systems, MRP signals, BOM accuracy, and manufacturing processes to resolve issues and ensure consistent execution.
  • Partner crossfunctionallywith Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Finance, Engineering, and Supply Chain to align plans, resolve constraints, and support business objectives.
  • Apply strong financial acumento manage inventory investment, absorption, variances, and cost impacts while meeting service and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure GxP-compliant executionthrough strict SOP adherence, accurate transactional discipline, and complete documentation practices.
  • Drive continuous improvementin planning accuracy, schedule stability, inventory control, and buyer/planner responsiveness to demand and supply changes.
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to develop a highperforming production planning and buyer/planner team, building capability, succession, and engagement through coaching, performance management, and continuous skills development

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 7 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

  • Technical Skills - Knowledge of SAP, BI, OBP, MES is a plus.
  • Ability to translate user specifications into metrics, dashboards.
  • Business modeling for scenario planning such as Long-Term-Planning.
  • Experience working at a manufacturing site.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High learning agility.
  • Develop and communicate annual budgets for each product and supplier.
  • Hire, train, coach, develop and evaluate associates.
