Job description

Description:

About Delta360

Delta360 is a family-owned company with over 50 years of experience providing integrated fuel, lubricant, propane, equipment, logistics, and reliability solutions. We support industrial, commercial, emergency response, and turnaround environments across multiple locations with a strong commitment to operational excellence, safety, accountability, and long-term customer partnerships.

Position Summary

Delta360 is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Inventory Control Specialist to support daily inventory accuracy across multiple branch locations. This is not a traditional desk accounting position. This role will be actively involved in daily physical inventory counts, manual inventory verification, inventory audits, reconciliation of discrepancies, and coordination with Operations and Accounting to ensure inventory records are accurate and reliable.

The ideal candidate has strong inventory control experience, a solid accounting foundation, and the ability to work in the field, warehouse, yard, or branch environment on a daily basis. This position requires regular travel to company locations and the ability to physically count, verify, and manage inventory as part of the daily workflow.

Audit experience is strongly preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform daily physical inventory counts, including manual counting, verification, and documentation of inventory items.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory reviews across assigned branch locations.
  • Travel to multiple company locations to inspect, count, verify, and reconcile inventory.
  • Compare physical inventory counts to system records and research any discrepancies.
  • Partner with Operations, Accounting, Purchasing, and branch personnel to ensure inventory records are accurate and properly maintained.
  • Review inventory activity, including receipts, transfers, issues, adjustments, and other inventory movements.
  • Identify inventory variances, investigate root causes, and help implement corrective actions.
  • Support month-end inventory close activities, including reconciliations, rollforwards, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with inventory valuation, cutoff review, reserves, and related accounting controls.
  • Maintain organized documentation of inventory counts, reconciliations, audit findings, and corrective action items.
  • Support internal inventory audits and assist with external audit requests as needed.
  • Monitor inventory control processes and recommend improvements to strengthen accuracy, accountability, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with fixed asset tracking as needed, including verification of equipment, transfers, disposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure inventory procedures are followed consistently across locations.
  • Communicate inventory issues clearly and timely to leadership.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control, accounting, audit, warehouse inventory, operations accounting, or a related field.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting, finance, business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
  • Audit experience preferred.
  • Experience with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, or inventory audits strongly preferred.
  • Must be comfortable performing hands-on inventory work daily, including manual counting and physical verification.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to multiple branch locations as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and follow inventory control procedures accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple locations, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with branch teams, operations personnel, accounting staff, and leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience working in an ERP, inventory management system, or accounting system preferred.
  • Previous experience in an inventory-intensive environment such as fuel, lubricants, distribution, manufacturing, petroleum, equipment, construction materials, or industrial services preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate variances and support resolution.
  • Physical & Travel Requirements
  • This is an on-site, hands-on position and is not primarily a desk role.
  • Must be able to perform daily physical inventory counts in branch, warehouse, yard, shop, or operational environments.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and physically inspect inventory as needed.
  • Must be able to travel regularly to company branch locations.
  • Must be comfortable working around warehouse, yard, equipment, fuel, lubricant, and operational environments.
  • Must follow all company safety policies, site requirements, and PPE guidelines.

Work Environment

This role works closely with both Accounting and Operations. While some computer and reporting work is required, the majority of the position requires active involvement in inventory control, physical counts, field verification, and branch-level inventory management. The successful candidate must be comfortable moving between office, warehouse, yard, and branch environments.

Preferred Experience

  • Inventory audit experience.
  • Internal audit, external audit, or operational audit experience.
  • Multi-branch inventory control experience.
  • Fuel, lubricant, petroleum, distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial operations experience.
  • Experience reconciling physical inventory to accounting or ERP records.
