Inventory Control Specialist
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory and supporting daily warehouse operations. This role coordinates task distribution, trains and guides material handlers, and ensures adherence to safety and quality standards. The Specialist manages WMS data, produces reports, and leads cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy. Additional duties include investigating variances, maintaining documentation, supporting continuous improvement, and performing necessary physical material handling tasks. This position plays a key role in driving inventory integrity, operational efficiency, and a clean, organized work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and related programs to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate task distribution in partnership with Material Flow, Operations, and IC leadership.
- Train, guide, and support material handlers across receiving, inventory control, and data-gathering
activities. - Monitor WMS data and transactions; generate reports to support operational and management
decision-making. - Establish, model, and maintain quality control standards and inventory process compliance.
- Investigate inventory variances, conduct root cause analysis, and document findings for operational
improvement. - Compile, verify, and report inventory metrics. Support daily / weekly reporting of activities and trends.
- Oversee raw material documentation flow, certificate creation, and general inventory record integrity.
- Perform physical material-handling tasks as needed and maintain a clean, organized work environment,
along with other assigned duties. May include occasional forklift driving to enable core duties. - Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety, particularly related to material handling equipment.
- Manage document retention processes.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude under
pressure. - Ability to use a PAPR raspatory device on occasion.
- Experience operating a forklift or other pit equipment experience.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Experience with Oracle WMS and Tableau preferred.
