Job description

The Hardware Engineer provides engineering support for the design, drafting, development, integration, testing, and sustainment of complex hardware systems and infrastructure. This position supports the creation of hardware designs, technical drawings, installation packages, and system integration solutions for IT hardware environments and other complex technical systems. The Hardware Engineer works with systems engineers, software engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity personnel, installers, and program management to ensure hardware solutions are technically sound, properly documented, and effectively integrated into the overall system architecture. The role requires experience in drafting, IT hardware systems design, and integration of complex multi-component systems in support of operational and mission requirements


  • Design, develop, and document hardware solutions for complex technical and IT system environments.

  • Prepare and maintain hardware drawings, layouts, installation diagrams, rack elevations, interconnect diagrams, and other technical drafting products.
  • Support the design of IT hardware systems, including servers, storage, end-user devices, network hardware, peripheral devices, and supporting infrastructure components.
  • Develop hardware specifications, bills of materials, interface definitions, and installation guidance.
  • Support integration of hardware components into larger system architectures, ensuring compatibility across electrical, mechanical, network, software, and operational interfaces.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering, network engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, and operations teams to support end-to-end hardware solutions.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, design reviews, technical planning, and engineering trade studies.
  • Support hardware assembly, configuration, installation, integration, and test activities.
  • Analyze hardware-related technical issues and support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
  • Ensure hardware designs and installation packages comply with applicable standards, customer requirements, and program constraints.
  • Support technical baseline management, engineering change documentation, and configuration control.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, status reports, and technical recommendations for leadership and customers, as required.
  • Support lifecycle activities including modernization, technology refresh, deployment, maintenance, and sustainment.

THIS HYBRID POSITION REQUIRES 3 DAYS OF WORK IN THE OFFICE AND 2 DAYS REMOTE PER WEEK


  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

  • Experience producing technical drawings, diagrams, and hardware documentation.
  • Experience with IT hardware systems design, including enterprise or mission-focused computing and infrastructure components.
  • Experience integrating complex hardware systems or subsystems in a technical environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering design processes, configuration management, and technical documentation practices.
  • Ability to analyze hardware and integration issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and implementation teams.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
