Senior Manager, Graphic Design

We're looking for an experienced, strategic, and highly creative visual communications leader to oversee ACHC's Visual Communications team and elevate our brand across every touchpoint. As the Senior Manager, Graphic Design, you will lead the creative direction, operational management, and execution of ACHC's strategy for visual communications. In this role, you will shape and maintain all visual aspects of the ACHC brand, ensuring a consistent, compelling, and high-quality brand experience across print, digital, environmental, presentation, and multimedia communications.

This role combines creative leadership with operational excellence. As the steward of the ACHC visual brand, you will translate business objectives into strategic visual solutions that strengthen ACHC's reputation, support organizational growth, and reinforce our position as THE Standard for Modern Accreditation. You will also ensure the efficient delivery of creative services through effective planning, prioritization, and resource management.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Corporate Communications & Marketing, you will lead a team of graphic designers and media specialists responsible for developing marketing and communications assets that support corporate initiatives, business development, and program marketing. You will oversee the intake, prioritization, resource allocation, and production workflow for all creative requests through the Monday.com work management system, ensuring projects are appropriately prioritized, resourced, and delivered on time without compromising quality.

The "Senior" designation reflects advanced expertise in visual communications, creative leadership, operational management, cross-functional collaboration, and people leadership. As the organization's primary resource for visual branding, creative strategy, and design best practices, you will champion innovation, mentor creative talent, and help ensure every visual expression of the ACHC brand reflects the excellence and professionalism our organization represents.

Creative Leadership & Brand Stewardship
  • Leads and manages the Design team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing creative culture.
  • Provides creative direction for all marketing and corporate communications materials, including print, digital, presentations, environmental graphics, video, and multimedia.
  • Develops, maintains, and enforces ACHC visual brand standards, ensuring consistent application across all communications.
  • Serves as the organization's subject matter expert for visual design, branding, and creative execution.
  • Provides hands-on creative direction and design support for complex, high-profile, or strategically important initiatives.
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen ACHC's visual identity and elevate the overall brand experience.
Creative Operations
  • Oversees the Monday.com work management system as the centralized intake process for all creative requests.
  • Reviews incoming requests for completeness, scope, priority, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Prioritizes projects based on business impact, strategic importance, deadlines, and available resources.
  • Assigns work to internal designers, multimedia specialists, or external vendors to optimize quality, efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Monitors project status, workload, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
  • Establishes and continuously improves creative workflows, production processes, and operational standards.
  • Identifies capacity constraints, process improvements, and resource needs while implementing solutions that improve team effectiveness.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Partners with Marketing, Corporate Communications, Program teams, and business stakeholders to develop effective visual communications solutions.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between internal clients and the Visual Communications team to clarify project objectives, expectations, priorities, and timelines.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops graphic designers and media specialists through ongoing feedback, performance management, and professional development.
  • Coordinates external creative vendors, printers, photographers, videographers, and other production partners as needed.
  • Maintains organized libraries of templates, digital assets, and production files to promote efficiency and brand consistency.
  • Promotes organization-wide understanding and adoption of ACHC brand standards and best practices for visual communication.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Media Arts, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in graphic design, creative services, or visual communications.
  • 3+ years of experience leading creative professionals, managing design teams, or supervising creative operations.
  • Expert proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); working knowledge of Premiere Pro and After Effects preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic visual concepts that support business and marketing objectives.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise brand standards.
  • Experience managing creative workflows using Monday.com or similar work management/project management platforms.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and operational leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build collaborative relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering teamwork in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Occasional travel is required.

This position is office-based at our headquarters in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area with the eligibility to work remotely two days per week. Compensation includes base salary + annual bonus.
