POSITION TYPE: Hourly, Non-Exempt


JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the maintenance of the Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. This position will also assist with leading assigned full and part time staff in the completion of golf course maintenance and improvement projects.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Provides maintenance, upkeep and repair of the Jaycee Municipal Glf Course. Typical tasks involve turf maintenance to include greens, fairways, tee boxes and rough areas; planning and completion of course improvement projects and repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assists with leading full and part time staff on daily assigned work.
  • Maintains and repairs golf course maintenance equipmentand golf cart fleet.
  • Performs chemical applications as needed for maintenance of golf course turf areas.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Operates, monitors and repairs golf course irrigation systems
  • Identifying golf course maintenance needs and developing a plan for project completion.
  • Sets up for and cleans up after golf tournaments.
  • Available to respond and to work weekends and holidays, as needed. Participates in a rotation of weekend coverage of golf course maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

  • A demonstrated ability to work independently of direct supervision and effectively lead others in the completion of assigned work and projects.
  • The ability to operate equipment used in maintenance applications including tractors, mowers, trimmers, specialty golf course maintenance equipment, trucks and other related equipment.
  • Knowledge of turf and outdoor maintenance principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrated understanding and general knowledge of maintenance principals to include concrete, carpentry and plumbing.
  • The ability to interpret verbal and written instructions and adhere to project completion deadlines and schedules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a valid Missouri Class "B" CDL License.
  • Qualified applicants must possess a valid driver's license.

Salary per hour $18.20, plus a generous benefit package.

  • Bi-weekly pay periods.
  • Thirteen paid holidays per year.
  • 96 hours of vacation - accrued throughout the year.
  • 96 hours of sick leave - accrued throughout the year.
  • 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
  • City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance - Employee only.
  • City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
  • Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee's expense.
  • Optional vision insurance purchased at employee's expense.
  • Voluntary deferred compensation plan - not matched by the City.
  • Retirement (LAGERS) paid by the City. Missouri LAGERS - A Secure Retirement for All (molagers.org).
  • Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $26.39 hourly.
