Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico (Onsite) Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Lead / Software Architect to provide system-level leadership for a large-scale, classified ground system. This role operates at the front end of the software lifecycle, leading architecture, defining requirements, shaping system design, and setting the technical foundation for development teams. The position requires an experienced leader who can architect systems of scale, not a candidate focused on hands-on implementation. Key Responsibilities

Define and document system requirements, interfaces, and design artifacts.
Develop and maintain system models using frameworks such as DoDAF, MSOSA, and Cameo.
Translate customer needs and operational concepts into formal system designs.
Establish design patterns, architectural guardrails, and technical direction for implementation teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Collaborate with test leadership to define test strategies and verification approaches.
Evaluate existing codebases at a system level to inform reuse versus re-implementation decisions. Required Qualifications
Clearance: An active Top Secret (TS) U.S. Security Clearance is required, with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility post-start. Education: A bachelorโ€™s degree is required. Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering with significant system-level leadership responsibility. Candidates must have demonstrated experience architecting large, complex software systems (e.g., ground systems, distributed systems, or mission systems) and proven expertise in software architecture, design, and requirements engineering. Experience operating in early-phase program environments is necessary. Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of DoDAF, MSOSA, Cameo (or similar MBSE tools), and structured SDLC (e.g., V-model) is required. Preferred Qualifications
An active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance.
Previous experience leading or architecting classified ground systems.
Experience as a Technical Lead Engineer, Software Lead, or Software Architect on a complex software development program.
Familiarity with transitioning systems from R&D into formal program execution.
Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C++, Python, JavaScript frameworks (e.g., REACT, jQuery UI), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, REST, and OpenAPI.
Familiarity with practices such as TDD, agile software development, DevSecOps, and CI/CD management.
Experience using cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS or Azure. Compensation & Benefits
