Job description

We're partnering with a highly reputable organization in the Kansas City area to hire a Senior Financial Analytics Analyst for a contract role through the end of the year, with strong potential for extension or full-time conversion. This opportunity offers $50-$65/hour, along with holiday pay and PTO accrual during the contract, plus the chance to transition into a permanent position with competitive salary, bonus, and equity. In this role, you'll deliver end-to-end analytics and reporting solutions, working closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable insights. A critical requirement for this position is hands-on experience building Power BI reports from scratch-including partnering with end users, sourcing and transforming data, and creating polished, insightful visualizations. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of Power BI experience, a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and a strong blend of finance, data, and IT expertise (CPA or public accounting experience preferred). This team is specifically seeking someone who has truly owned report development end-to-end-not just exposure to Power BI or SQL-and who is comfortable working "in the weeds" with modern data tools; exposure to Google Cloud is a plus.

This position is dedicated to the delivery of analytics & reporting solutions with an emphasis on Project and Business Unit Financial data and metrics. The Senior Financial Analytics Analyst will play a key role in collaborating with cross-functional teams to create and develop new Finance data products and support key data governance initiatives. These efforts will align with the Company's mission to deliver trusted, data-driven solutions that empower users to make insightful business decisions, drive client success, and achieve future business growth and enhanced performance.
Job Duties:
  • Analyze, gather, and interpret large tables and datasets to create and maintain new Finance data products and data models
  • Lead and develop new role-based access controls for the Finance data domain
  • Collaborate and serve as a key liaison between Project teams, IT and other Finance departments to meet project and business reporting needs
  • Oversee and maintain the data catalog within the Finance domain
  • Provide analytic reports, analyses, and presentations of project financial data to multiple levels of leadership
  • Lead, coach and mentor Financial Analytics staff
  • Serve as a financial data and analytics subject matter expert for department-wide goals and initiatives
  • Act in lead roles for projects that focus on innovation and process improvement
  • Support the Financial Analytics Manager with planning initiatives and prioritizing business and information needs
  • Create and participate in formal and informal trainings over the Company's Financial reporting solutions to project managers and business leaders
  • Develop and execute user acceptance testing plans in support of creating and enhancing Project Financial data models and reports
  • Translate data requirements for practical usage by stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to enhance technical skills which can be transferred to the Financial Analytics team and other Finance departments

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance and 8 years of related professional accounting experience
  • Strong functional understanding of data models and available reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, etc.)
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts
  • Experience either in auditing or serving as a key audit contact.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple day-to-day and ongoing projects simultaneously.
  • Strong Excel experience.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts
  • Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence and lead. Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
