Role Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst III leads complex analytics initiatives, designs enterprise-level dashboards, and serves as a subject matter expert for data and reporting within assigned domains. This role emphasizes strategic thinking, advanced analysis, and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis & Models
    • Gather, clean, and analyze complex data from various sources.
    • Design complex data models and methodologies.
    • Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data analysis.
    • Partner with data engineering and architecture teams on data design decisions.
    • Provide complex data & analysis to internal teams and external consultants, auditors, and vendors.
  • Insights
    • Write advanced SQL queries and calculations.
    • Translate ambiguous business problems into analytical approaches and insights.
    • Analyze complex data to draw conclusions and inform decision making.
    • Communicate insights to Director-level stakeholders.
  • KPI/Metrics
    • Partner with Director-level stakeholders to define and document KPIs & metrics.
    • Develop corporate KPIs & metrics.
    • Prepare, deliver, and support corporate KPIs & metrics.
  • Reports & Dashboards
    • Lead the design and delivery of complex, high-impact interactive dashboards and reports.
    • Prepare, deliver, and support business critical reports.
    • Document report definitions, metrics, and refresh processes.
    • Enhance complex report delivery through automation.
  • Collaboration & Consult
    • Work with Director-level stakeholders to understand needs to define and deliver BI solutions.
    • Participate in large scale cross-functional projects that require BI input.
    • Mentor analysts and review analytical work for quality and consistency.

Education and Experience
  • BA/BS in analytics, mathematics, information systems, business or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience in BI, analytics, or data roles.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • Advanced SQL knowledge.
  • Advanced level in at least one BI tool and data visualizations (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite including advanced level in MS Excel.
  • Advanced understanding of databases (e.g. SQL Server) and data structures.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and KPI design.
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to gather, synthesize and analyze information from multiple systems.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and guide decision-making.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills.
