Job description

Who We Are
VPL is a healthcare logistics technology company that powers the movement of medications and medical supplies across the healthcare ecosystem. Through a centralized platform for shipping, tracking, and analytics, VPL helps pharmacies and supply chain teams improve operational efficiency, gain visibility into performance, and make smarter logistics decisions.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

VPL is looking for an experienced PowerBI developer/admin to own our PBI implementation and dashboards. This role includes the design, development and maintenance of the business intelligence layer in our broader analytics tech stack. The dashboards built in PBI are customer-facing and provide key information to our health care customers; information that leads to better outcomes for patients.

As a member of the Data & Analytics team you'll be a part of the group that owns VPL's data -from acquiring it at the source to ingestion into our data warehouse, to its usage in reporting, dashboards and predictive modeling. VPL is growing quickly in this space because we're using data to drive both our products, and therefore our business, forward. This team and this role are key to that effort.

WHAT YOU'LL DO HERE

  • Administration of PowerBI environment

  • Maintain and update the architecture and implementation standards of our BI layer

  • Build and manage data extracts between EDW and Fabric.

  • Partner with the product software developers to embed reports into customer-facing applications

  • Research and resolve data issues raised by customers and internal users

  • Own resolution for PBI system issues by working to identify root causes and, when appropriate, implementing resolution

REPORT DEVELOPMENT

  • Along with Product Management team, review product briefs and refine requirements based on these documents.

  • Working backwards from PowerBI, identify any gaps in data and determine whether resolution should occur within PBI or in the database layer

  • Ensure consistent design patterns and user experience across dashboards

  • Create visualizations as per design and suggest alternative options where appropriate

OTHER DUTIES

  • Cross train among the team to grow our broader capabilities

  • Learn upstream data engineering processes and best practices

SKILLS YOU BRING:

  • 5 years of PowerBI admin and/or report development, including experience editing DAX queries for variable creation

  • 3 years experience using Microsoft Fabric to extract from data warehouses

  • 3 years experience writing and reading SQL against dimensional data models

  • Familiarity writing and reading SQL queries across multiple tables

  • Experience modifying database models to support reporting needs

  • Ability to communicate between business users and technical teams

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

  • Experience querying directly from data warehouses like Snowflake or SQL Server

  • Knowledge of database modeling methods (dimensional vs normalized)

  • Prior work in an agile delivery environment

BENEFITS & PERKS

  • Time Off: Unlimited Time Off (UTO) policy for full time employees.

  • Holidays: 10 company-paid holidays and 3 floating holidays each full calendar year.

  • Free in office Snacks and Drinks.

  • Health Coverage: Medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision plans with multiple options to fit individual and family needs.

  • Wellness Support: Medical plan–aligned wellness programs, plus a $500 annual Wellness Reimbursement to support your overall health.

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential support and resources for mental health, financial guidance, and life challenges.

  • Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with a 50% employer match up to 6%, fully vested on day one.

  • Life Insurance: Company-paid life insurance is provided, with optional voluntary coverage available for employees and eligible dependents.

  • Additional Voluntary Benefits: Short- and long-term disability, accident, hospital indemnity, critical illness, legal insurance, identity theft, and pet insurance.
