Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Sr Principal Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer to join our Sector Environment, Health and Safety team. The selected applicant will be responsible for successfully developing, implementing and managing all health and safety programs in accordance with government and company requirements. The preferred location is located in Roy, UT Or Huntsville, AL.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
  • Administer the company's internal EHS compliance audit program and conduct management systems evaluations.
  • Develop and implement company health and safety compliance policies, procedures and strategies.
  • Oversee occupational health and safety compliance and training programs.
  • Liaison with external health and safety organizations and vendors.
  • Develop, analyze, status and maintain sector level metric data including leading and lagging measures
  • Develop and lead sector-wide health and safety initiatives.
  • Represent company in government and industry rule-making activities.
  • Partner with site teams and management to support the sector wide EH&S systems.
  • Collaborate with leadership, division and site teams to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability in support of health and safety programs

Basic Qualifications
  • Senior EHS Engineer: 8 years of experience with a bachelor's in science degree; or 5 years of experience with a master's degree; or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
  • Experience conducting EHS site inspections to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Experience in data management platforms i.e....Tableau, Power BI, SharePoint, Cority
  • Experience in conducting worksite analysis and/or hazard prevention and control
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience collaborating with all levels of an organization.
  • Proven ability to perform job duties with general direction and supervision and to provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound safety principles.
  • Able to Travel 25%
  • Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an M.S. degree program.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • EHS experience in manufacturing
  • EHS experience in Ammunition/Explosives
  • Experience managing various EHS compliance programs (with an emphasis on occupational safety programs, such as chemical safety/hygiene, ergonomics, lockout/tagout, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, incident investigations, etc.) based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations and company policies & procedures
  • Experience with oversight of third-party consultants/contractors.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Experience analyzing safety metrics and trends
  • Experience in conducting training for crane, fall protection, and forklift operations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs.
  • Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs.
  • Experience conducting engineer design reviews for general building manufacturing and production tooling.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources.
  • Consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems
  • Mastering unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively and developing innovative solutions based on sound scientific principles.
  • Ability to perform job duties without direct supervision.

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $185,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
