ECLARO’s client is a leading technology solutions provider, collaborating with customers to manage their needs and achieve success in their business goals.

Position Overview: Director of Engineering is a high-impact senior leadership role, responsible for the end-to-end cellular engineering, including mobile network (core and RAN) management as well as deployment and technical management of innovative wholesale solutions in a secure, effective, scalable and commercially viable manner, to customers across the world. This role manages and leads a geographically dispersed multidisciplinary engineering team covering IP, 4G / LTE, IMS, 5G NSA / SA, NTN, SIM/ eSIM, BSS / billing as well as global roaming and wholesale.

Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: Provide strategic and technical leadership for cellular engineering functions. Act as the final engineering authority for production readiness, operational acceptance, and NOC handover of all deployed solutions. Lead and manage a geographically dispersed engineering team responsible for both open-source and vendor supplied LTE core (MME, SGW, PGW), IMS (VoLTE / VoNR) as well as 5G core (AMF, SMF, UPF, UDM, AUSF, PCF, NRF) infrastructure.

Ownership for mobile core network infrastructure nodes and their operational management, including roadmaps / lifecycle planning, upgrades, vendor relationships, dimensioning, etc. Technical and operational ownership of roaming infrastructure for 4G / LTE as well as 5G NSA / SA, including SEPP as well as TAP and BCE billing. Ownership of SIM lifecycle management including IMSI and MSISDN allocations, SIM and eSIM configurations and provisioning, and any other identity parameters on eSIM using OTA platform.

Ownership of bespoke software development needs. Ownership for Limitless Mobile RAN as well as lab toy cells used for testing and customer demonstrations. Ownership of technical end-to-end process for CDR generation to mediation function needed for rating and billing.

Planning: Implement and manage tools and processes to effectively plan and manage utilization of engineering resources. Create and manage an engineering delivery roadmap for Limitless Mobile to enhance various platforms for the 5G NSA / SA as well as 6G in the future. Ownership of capacity management for mobile core network and RAN.

Projects: Technical ownership of solution deployment for contracted wholesale customers as well as relevant internal projects. Establish and enforce standard deployment patterns, reference architectures, and baseline configurations for core, RAN, roaming, and wholesale solutions to reduce deployment variability and operational risk. Work with assigned Project Manager to lead complex, long-duration (weeks or months) projects ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.

Create, implement, and drive High Level Design (HLD), Low level design (LLD) including final documentation. Drive the creation of acceptance test plans to be used to verify the solutions during the implementation projects and as customer acceptance criteria. The main objectives of these test plans are to successfully deliver the solution, to secure customer.

Ensure all projects have full documentation and are properly transitioned to the Network Operations Centre (NOC) for post-launch operation. Work with assigned Project Manager to conduct a post mortem at the end of each project to identify learnings that can be applied in future projects. Operations & Support: Ensure NOC team is sufficiently trained on new solutions to facilitate effective post-launch delivery and support.

Maintain ongoing accountability for the operational health of deployed platforms, including recurring incident analysis, trend review, and continuous improvement of monitoring, alerting, and runbooks in collaboration with the NOC. Own the identification, prioritization, and remediation of technical depth across network platforms, tooling, and automation, balancing short-term delivery pressure with long-term operational sustainability. Ensure Engineering supports NOC by providing Tier 2 support, including critical network incidents and service-impacting issues through a 24x7 rotation program (for emergencies and critical issues).

Organizational Development: Establish engineering best practices, governance, documentation, and operational excellence standards. Drive the adoption of automation, analytics, and ML-assisted tooling specifically to reduce mean time to detect (MTTD), mean time to restore (MTTR), operational cost, and manual intervention across engineering and NOC workflows. Create and execute a plan for continuous development of individuals in the engineering team to ensure ability to take advantage of new technologies.

Recruit and grow the engineering team as required by the business. Measurement: Based on a combination of factors including number of new customer projects successfully deployed, speed of resolution of support issues, training, technical management of a wholesale customer projects etc. Percentage of projects delivered on time and within budget.

Reduction in deployment time through standardization and automation. MTTR and severity-1 incident frequency for production platforms. Percentage of projects transitioned to NOC with complete documentation.

Engineering capacity utilization and delivery predictability. Required Qualifications: BS and or MS in Computer/Telecom/Electrical Engineering. Minimum of 8-12 years working in the mobile telecommunications industry designing, integrating, and managing core networks for wireless carriers/ Mobile Network Operators (MNO), MVNO, etc.

Proven ability to lead and manage people as well as scale engineering teams. Strong executive communication skills with internal stakeholders, vendors, and partners. Ability to balance deep technical decision-making with commercial and business outcomes.

Experience delivering solutions for roaming, loT, MVNO, Private Mobile Networks, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN). Strong vendor management and negotiation skills. Preferred Qualifications: Entrepreneurial and proactive self-starter with a hunger to make a difference as well as strong performance and results orientation.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines in parallel with ability to recognize and adjust priorities as required. Detail-oriented, methodical, and well organized yet able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. Ability to work effectively both independently as well as in a team.

Confident, self-motivated, self-directed, and energetic personality. Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills. Excellent skills in building and managing relationships as well as influencing.

Excellent communications and presentation skills. Positive and constructive personality, including willingness to go beyond the call-of-duty to ensure successful and on-time delivery of projects. Salary: $170000.00 -$180000.00 /Year.
