Overview

Location: Greater Dallas/Fort Worth Area Reports To: Olivia Reilly (Mountz)

Position Overview

The Applications Engineer will serve as a key technical resource for Mountz customers, helping solve complex fastening, assembly, electromechanical, and factory integration challenges.

This is a hands-on application engineering role with significant opportunity to grow. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, curiosity, and the ability to work directly with customers, sales, product management, marketing, and engineering teams. As the Applications Engineering function continues to grow, this individual will have the opportunity to take on increasing leadership responsibility and potentially grow into an Applications Engineering Manager role in 1-2 years based on abilities. 

The successful candidate will be both a technical problem solver and a trusted partner to customers, helping them successfully implement Mountz solutions in real world manufacturing environments.

ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesCustomer & Applications Engineering
  • Provide hands on technical support to customers throughout the sales, integration, and post sales process.
  • Troubleshoot complex fastening, electromechanical, and factory integration challenges.
  • Support customers with application design, product selection, configuration, and implementation.
  • Participate in customer visits, demonstrations, trials, and technical presentations.
  • Support the integration of Mountz products into manufacturing work cells and production environments.
  • Identify customer needs and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex application issues and train sales on the solution.
Technical Expertise
  • Apply knowledge of fastening and assembly processes to solve customer manufacturing challenges.
  • Troubleshoot and support systems involving:
    • PLCs and factory controls
    • Electromechanical systems
    • Servo motors and motion profiles
    • Industrial sensors
    • Pneumatic systems and logic
    • MES and work-cell controls
    • Software and communication protocols
  • Assist customers with process documentation, system configuration, and implementation.
  • Ensure solutions meet applicable safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Sales to identify opportunities and develop technically sound solutions.
  • Work with Product Management and Marketing to communicate customer needs, application trends, and competitive insights.
  • Provide technical feedback to influence product development, usability, and serviceability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and development partners to ensure Mountz products integrate effectively into customer factory environments.
  • Create and contribute to application notes, technical documentation, training materials, and demonstrations.
Continuous Improvement & Team Development
  • Help establish and improve Applications Engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of technical training programs and onboarding materials for future Applications Engineers.
  • Share technical knowledge and mentor other engineers as the team grows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the consistency, scalability, and effectiveness of Mountz's customer-facing technical support.
Growth Opportunity

As the Applications Engineering organization expands, the successful candidate will have opportunities to:

Prior management experience is not required. Demonstrated technical leadership, initiative, communication skills, and the ability to develop others will be highly valued.

QualificationsQualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, fastening, assembly, or a related engineering environment.
  • Experience integrating equipment, tools, or devices into manufacturing or factory systems.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • PLC systems
    • Electromechanical systems
    • Servo motors, motion profiles, and controls
    • Industrial sensors
    • MES systems and work-cell controls
    • Manufacturing processes and documentation
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with fastening and assembly processes strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in mentoring, technical leadership, and career growth.
  • Preferred: Professional proficiency in Korean or Spanish.
