PNC is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead and evolve our data engineering and platform modernization efforts supporting credit card systems. This role blends technical leadership, people management, and delivery ownership within a fast-paced Agile environment.

You will oversee a cross-functional team of software engineers, Business Systems Analysts (BSAs), and Scrum Masters focused on credit card modernization initiatives, data streaming platforms, and high-performance database systems. This leader will also own resource planning, intake management, and execution prioritization across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and grow teams of software engineers, BSAs, and Scrum Masters.
  • Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and accountable engineering culture.
  • Manage resource allocation, intake requests, and capacity planning to ensure delivery alignment with business priorities.
  • Partner with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to drive roadmap execution.

Technology & Delivery Oversight

  • Provide technical leadership across:
    • Oracle Exadata platforms
    • Data streaming architectures (Kafka or equivalent)
    • Data integration tools (Informatica or similar)
  • Oversee the development and optimization of PL/SQL-based solutions and data pipelines.
  • Drive best practices in data analysis, performance tuning, and scalability.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and compliance of data platforms.

Credit Card Modernization

  • Lead initiatives focused on enhancing and modernizing credit card platforms and capabilities.
  • Partner with business teams to deliver scalable and customer-centric enhancements.
  • Drive transformation from legacy systems to modern, real-time data-driven architectures.

Agile Execution

  • Champion Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid models).
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters to ensure effective sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery execution.
  • Continuously improve team processes, productivity, and delivery predictability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3-5+ years in a leadership/management role.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional technical teams (engineering, BSAs, Scrum roles).

Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience with:
    • Oracle Exadata
    • Kafka / data streaming technologies
    • PL/SQL development and performance tuning
    • Data analysis and large-scale data processing
  • Familiarity with:
    • Informatica or similar ETL/data integration tools

Delivery & Domain Experience

  • Experience supporting credit card systems or financial services modernization initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) in enterprise environments.
  • Experience managing intake processes, prioritization, and resource planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Background in real-time data processing and event-driven architectures.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Experience in regulated environments (financial services preferred).
