Job description

Job Title: Database Developer (Senior)

Location: Huntsville, AL

Position Type: Full-Time


Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Database Developer to design, develop, and optimize database solutions in support of application development and enterprise operations. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SQL and PL/SQL, with strong expertise in database performance tuning, automation, and backend reporting. This role will interface with customers, users, and developers to ensure efficient database operations, maintain database schema and design, and provide subject matter expertise for ingesting data from multiple sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL and PL/SQL code, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and queries.
  • Develop backend reports and custom scripts to automate database management processes.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance.
  • Maintain database schema, support database design, and manage transition development activities.
  • Collaborate with customers, end users, and developers to gather requirements and ensure database solutions meet mission needs.
  • Provide technical SME support for data ingestion from various sources (e.g., file systems).
  • Perform database maintenance, upgrades, and system enhancements.
  • Ensure database solutions align with security, performance, and quality requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in database development and administration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development.
  • Strong experience in database performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning.
  • Expertise in developing stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and queries.
  • Solid understanding of database schema design and management.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance (required).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government database systems.
