Job Description:

Summary:

The Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices (OSARP) administers the student disciplinary system, which resolves alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code by a student or a student organization.The Senior Coordinator of Student Conduct, Student Accountability and Restorative Practices conducts disciplinary conferences with students and handles the administrative processing of cases. The Senior Coordinator, OSARP also ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, manages departmental data report requests, and assists with training of Conduct Council panel members. The Senior Coordinator of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices is also responsible for the supervision, recruitment and training of the OSARP Mentorship program.The Senior Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of Graduate Assistants. The Senior Coordinator, Student Accountability and Restorative Practices position is a live-on position and serves as a lead on the university's Student Activism Response Team.

Essential Functions:

1.) Hearing Officer

  • Provides administrative leadership and oversight for student accountability, conflict resolution, and related adjudicative processes. Exercises discretion and independent judgment in interpreting university policies, evaluating complex information, determining appropriate courses of action, and making decisions and recommendations on matters that significantly affect students and the university community.This position will administer the disciplinary process for the university's non-academic alleged violations.Serves as a conference officer, including communicating with students, parents, and other third parties by educating them about procedures and processes as well as policies.Responsible for making independent decisions regarding individual responsibility and appropriate sanctions for individual case load.Responsible for making decisions regarding procedural issues for assigned case disciplinary conference case load. Facilitates pre-hearing meetings for disciplinary hearing level cases and providing support to students participating in the disciplinary hearing process. Ensures due process and fairness of sanctions and upholds all university policies and laws regarding confidentiality and student privacy. Writes and reviews decision letters for consistency, format, and accuracy and consults with director regarding any case specific questions.

2.) Student Activism Support Management

  • Provides leadership and program coordination for the Student Activism Support Team and related institutional efforts supporting student advocacy, expressive activity, demonstrations, and civic engagement. Exercises independent judgment in assessing emerging situations, coordinating institutional resources, interpreting applicable policies, and recommending strategies that support student expression, community well-being, institutional readiness, and risk mitigation.As a live-on professional staff member, serves as a designated member of the Student Activism Support Lead Team and participates in an on-call rotation to support student activism, expressive activity, demonstrations, advocacy efforts, and other student-led engagement activities. Provides consultation, guidance, and resource navigation to students and student organizations before, during, and following events, helping students understand university policies, access campus resources, and successfully navigate institutional processes. Serves as a visible university representative and resource during planned and emergent student activities, promoting constructive engagement, effective communication, conflict de-escalation, and adherence to university policies and community standards.

  • Provides after-hours and weekend support for student programs, campus events, demonstrations, and other activities that may require university response, coordination, or intervention. Collaborates with campus partners including the AU Police Department, Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices, the Office of the Dean of Students, the Office of Inclusive Excellence, and other university stakeholders to support student well-being, campus operations, and institutional response efforts. Maintains availability during assigned on-call periods to respond to emerging student concerns, assess situations, provide appropriate support and referrals, and ensure continuity of university services during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-business hours.

3.) Supervision

  • Supervises Graduate Assistants position.Responsible for the direct supervision, training, oversight, leadership and management of Graduate Assistant's disciplinary case load as well as the development and management of special projects completed by the Graduate Assistants. Trains graduate assistants on university policies, confidentiality, case-management standards, procedures, documentation expectations,professional judgment, and appropriate escalation of sensitive matters.Conducts regular supervisory meetings; provides coaching, developmental feedback, and corrective guidance; reviews work; evaluates progress toward established learning and performance expectations; and contributes to formal performance assessments as applicable.

4.) Administrative

  • Completes discipline/background checks as assigned when proper authorization is provided and maintains the highest levels of confidentiality according to university regulations and federal law. Supports the management of sanction compliance, assessment, and other administrative tasks as needed.

5.) Special Projects

  • Coordinates special projects, programs, and meetings at the direction of the Director assists with logistics of special programs including the OSARP mentorship program, Conduct Council training, professional and paraprofessional training, and outreach sessions.

  • Support major division and university-wide programs, including but not limited to, Commencement, Family Weekend, Summer Send-Offs, Move-In, New Student Orientation, Family and Supporters Orientation, Student Achievement Awards, and Eagles at Night.As a member of the Division of Student Affairs, this positionmayadviserecognized student organizations as needed.

  • Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be available to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other times outside normal business operations. Regular attendance at campus programs, student events, university functions, and participation in after-hours response and on-call responsibilities are essential functions of the position.

  • To support the operational and on-call requirements of the role, the position includes a furnished on-campus studio apartment with all utilities provided as part of the compensation package.

Salary Range:

  • $58,946.00 - $60,000.00 annually, plus housing.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree or equivalent.

  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.

Ability to engage in active and empathetic listening and communicate with a service minded orientation.
